NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is reporting the Indianapolis Colts have signed QB Gardner Minshew to a one-year deal worth $3.75 million.
Fantasy Football Outlook: Minshew follows former Eagles OC Shane Steichen to the Colts, who is now Indianapolis’ new head coach. The Colts are in a position to draft their next perceived franchise quarterback in April’s NFL Draft — they hold the fourth overall pick. But as it stands today, Minshew is the best quarterback on the roster.
The only way Minshew holds fantasy football value is if the Colts draft a quarterback and sit him behind the veteran as he gets acclimated to the pro level. But it would only be a matter of time before said rookie would ultimately take over the starting job.
Minshew is a high-quality bridge quarterback loaded with upside when he does see action. He threw for 663 yards with four total touchdowns and four giveaways with a large majority of those numbers coming in two late-season starts for the Eagles in 2022. Minshew is a top-five backup quarterback in the NFL and a perennial fan favorite.
