Per Pro Football Talk, the New England Patriots have signed RB James Robinson to a two-year contract with a maximum value of $8 million.
Fantasy Football Outlook: Robinson popped for 1,414 total yards and 10 touchdowns as an undrafted rookie for the jaguars in 2020. And although he followed that season with a solid 989 total yards with eight scores in 2021, the regression was evident. Robinson played 14 games in 2021 until he suffered an Achilles injury, which put his career in the balance.
Robinson played well last season for the Jaguars, but once Travis Etienne proved he was good to go, the Jaguars traded the former to the Jets. It was all downhill from there. Robinson sporadically played upon his arrival to New York, suffering the fate of multiple healthy scratches on gameday.
It may be shocking that Robinson emerged with the Patriots, but he does fit the mold of a Patriots guy, considering he can do a little bit of everything. Furthermore, the fact that he is a UDFA shows that he is one of the hardest-working guys in the locker room, another Bill Belichick trigger. Robinson’s addition likely spells the end for free-agent runner Damien Harris’ tenure in New England.
