IDP Dynasty Rookie Profile – Aidan Hutchinson

While I think the debate between Kayvon Thibodeaux and Aidan Hutchinson is splitting hairs, I gave the slight edge to Hutchinson for fantasy purposes. I also think the right team could significantly unlock a world of potential for Hutchinson.

Hutchinson’s college stat line alone is plenty to demonstrate his potential, recording over 60 total tackles and 14 sacks in his senior year. But what attracts me about Hutchinson is the potential that could be unlocked with the right defensive mind.

One game, in particular, revealed this to me, where Michigan faced off against Penn State. In that matchup, Hutchinson was a matchup nightmare, often receiving double coverages and chip help to slow down his pass rush. That kind of attention alone is why I think he’ll go ahead of Thibodeaux in the NFL Draft.

In that matchup, he frequently deployed a similar approach in the pass rush, attempting to power straight through blockers, only rarely cutting back inside after faking a rush outside. When he gets to the NFL, defensive coordinators are going to change that, which will unlock a new layer of Hutchinson’s game that will lead to him racking up sacks.

While he has often shown strength over speed, Hutchinson has the potential to build out his game further adding vital stats to IDP success.
