IDP Dynasty Rookie Profile – Kayvon Thibodeaux

Similar to many NFL draft boards, my IDP rankings include a conversation between Kayvon Thibodeaux and Aidan Hutchinson. If you play in a league with a DL-specific position, you almost always want to attack the defensive end position, as this provides the most opportunity for sacks and tackles.

But also, DL tends to be a shallow position, with a significant drop-off after the top three players. This season provides a great opportunity to gain a competitive advantage by targeting Thibodeaux and Hutchinson towards the beginning of your rookie drafts.

One thing I like about Thibodeaux in fantasy is the diverse ways he can beat offensive lines. Thibodeaux has a good balance of speed and strength that allows him to power over blockers or simply beat them around the edge. His speed advantage also shows up in the run game, where he has a proven ability to get away from blockers to make a play on the ball.

My slight hesitation on Thibodeaux is the talent he was frequently matched up against. The PAC-12 isn’t exactly known for having numerous powerhouse teams, so I worry his transition will be a bit steeper than Hutchinson’s. Regardless, Thibodeaux was consistently the best player on the field in college and I think he will be a matchup challenge for years to come and provide a nice floor at DL, which is especially important to plan for with the likes of Aaron Donald and Cam Heyward increasing in age.
