IDP Fantasy Football: Week 17 News and Notes

IDP-Fantasy-Football-Week-17-News-and-Notes-micah-parsons

Micah Parsons (DL/LB) – Dallas Cowboys

Parsons came in last week dealing with an illness and had his worst game for fantasy football purposes. He has struggled in the past four weeks with only one game with more than three tackles. Also in those four games, he only has one tackle for loss and one sack. Now Parsons is questionable for Thursday’s game against the Titans with a hand injury. This is unfortunate because this is a great matchup against Malik Willis who has been sacked 10 times in just three starts.

Alex Highsmith (DL) – Pittsburgh Steelers

Highsmith has been up and down in fantasy, scoring eight points or less in five of his last nine games. In four of those games, he failed to record more than one tackle. Over the last weeks, he has had two sacks and just two quarterback hits. It is either sack or bust for Highsmith who faces the Ravens. In the last meeting against the Ravens, the Steelers only managed to record one sack against the Ravens and Highsmith had just three tackles.

Josh Sweat (DL) – Philadelphia Eagles

Sweat has been red hot with at least one sack in five straight games for a total of seven and a half sacks. In those five games, he scored at least 12 points each game and three or more tackles in four of the five. In Week 17 he gets to face the Saints where Andy Dalton has been sacked 14 times in the last seven games. All things considered, I’d say Sweat is very likely to get at least one sack this upcoming week.

Bobby Wagner (LB) – Los Angeles Rams

Wagner has been incredibly consistent not just for this season but for his entire career. He has 10 games with 15 or more points and 12 games with at least seven tackles. Wagner provides a safe floor by scoring double-digit points every game this season. He has only failed to score 10+ points just four times in the last five seasons which is insane. Finally, he has also shown the ability to remain healthy missing only two games in the last eight years.

Jalen Pitre (DB) – Houston Texans

Pitre continues to impress as a rookie and is on pace to finish as the No. 1 defensive back. He has been playing out of his mind for the last four weeks scoring over 100 points with two interceptions and double-digit tackles in three of the games. Additionally, he has 11 games with at least seven tackles and just three games with fewer than 10 points. He has played 100% of snaps in four straight games and at least 80% of snaps in every game this season. I expect him to have another strong performance this week against the Jaguars.
