IDP-Waiver-Wire-Warnings-and-Avoids-Week-5

Welcome to another edition of IDP Waiver Wire Warnings and Avoids. This week, we’re breaking down the top players to avoid in your IDP fantasy football leagues.

For all intents and purposes, the Week 5 IDP Waiver Wire Warnings are locked and loaded. Sharing our reasons why we won’t be looking a particular player’s way as a starter or addition. Especially if the player just blew up out of nowhere in a fantasy football. And most NFL IDP waiver wires work “for” picking up a player. Not here though, we’re doing quite the opposite.

Instead, we’ll be pointing out any reasons why we should look for safer waiver wire options in some cases. And surprisingly enough, it all might not be the data, stats, or even matchup-related. It simply could be the IDP scenarios that we’re avoiding and not the player. And may also come with some good old NFL drama, beat-writer reports, or even locker-room rumors. And whatever gets the word out, we’ll cover it as a warning in any way that gets it out here.

IDP Waiver Wire Warnings for Week 5

1 – General Novice Manager Warning

Fact, Week 4 is supplying quite a few names that overachieved. By overachieving, we mean padded their scores with big splash play points. Like interception, forced fumbles, etc. Which does seem to be a popular theme this year. However, something to keep in mind for any player picked up off the wire and the bye-weeks start. Always expand the details if you are not really familiar, or even if you are, it doesn’t hurt. It’s IDP consistency with the options we want and in the end, separates the season-long leaders in the end. So if they haven’t shown any real consistent tackle production before a big eye-catching week. All things considered, the odds were he was just in the right place at the right time in Week 5.

2 – Haason Reddick – Philadelphia Eagles – LB/DE

We shouldn’t consider one tackle, one for loss, one assist, and a sack a bust-out game for Haason Reddick. Washington had allowed the number one production, including sacks prior to that contest. Overall, that’s far from living up to that type of matchup in Week 3. Additionally, although the Rams aren’t all that tough of a matchup in Week 4, they are tiers below where the Commanders were in allowing production off the edge.

Furthermore, Reddick has not over-achieved or even matched any favorable match-ups before this contest. So after such a slow start and with a schedule, everyone else is getting their numbers in. We should wait and see if this is just the spark he needs. Or if it was simply Washington’s high-end matchup that got him on the stat sheet for the first time this season.

3 – Dangerous Situation

The Miami Dolphins inside linebackers are volatile when it comes to the first few weeks in snap counts. And leans toward David Long Jr. being the most sporadic, yet appealing producer of the main two.

As we can see. This really not only makes Long risky. It will also keep Jerome Baker’s consistency and ceiling capped at the same time. Something to keep in mind until something levels out, which normally will be if an injury occurs in Miami. Other than that, this might stick as it has for the last few seasons since head coach Mike McDaniel stepped in. So at any level of play in IDP formats, David Long or Baker isn’t exactly a great or safe pickup this week we can trust 100%.

4 – Dangerous Situation #2

Something needs to also break in Pittsburgh. And according to head coach Mike Tomlin after this “blowout” loss to the Texans, It’s coming. Our problem is there will be a lot of eyes on Elandon Roberts after a five solo and 5 assisted tackle contest in Week 3. And as reports go, along with his film and grades. That’s not going to amount to much as traditionally Tomlin fixes things in odd ways at the ILB position.

It’s one of those things you can ask any manager who’s dealt with it for the last few years. So based on what we know historically together with the current ILB personnel. It’s likely best to avoid any ILB in Pittsburgh versus the Ravens in Week 4. Or at the very least until we see if anything really does “break” or not. And it’s not so much Roberts, it’s Mike Tomlin shenanigans we’re suggesting we avoid. Making the snap counts even harder to trust in Week 5.

4 – Week 4 Warning Update

So it’s possible that we were a tad off with the Week 4 waiver wire warning on the Eagles ILB Nicholas Morrow? That tad bit might have been the wrong player or should have been the ILB unit after week 5. Nakobe Dean is still lingering and can return as soon as Week 6. So what will they do when they have three inside linebackers and only use two at a time? And there are indications that Morrow and Cunningham have both done their jobs well.

So in the end it’s going to be a catch-22, and believe it or not. Additionally, this undoubtedly feels like a potential rotation could be coming soon. That, or potentially Cunningham, Morrow, or Dean is out, either way, it’s looking tough to trust still and a warning. And likely the odds are it’s an avoid at all costs if addressing the waiver wire in standard leagues.
