Kenneth Gainwell Unlikely to Play For Eagles In Week 2
Philadelphia Eagles running back, Kenneth Gainwell, has been ruled out for Week 2’s Thursday Night Football matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting Eagles RB Gainwell (ribs) is ‘unlikely’ to play in Week 2. In this video, we break down the fantasy football impact for this backfield without Gainwell. Last week, Gainwell led the Eagles in touches with 14 carries for 54 yards. Additionally, he added 20 yards through the air, catching all four passes that were thrown his way.

Moving forward, D’Andre Swift should see the majority of the work. Last week, he only played in 29% of the offensive snaps. During those snaps, he saw just one carry and gained 3 yards. Additionally, he caught 1 of 2 passes for 0 yards. Needless to say, this was a massive disappointment.
Last week we saw the other new Eagles running back, Rashaad Penny, was inactive. This wasn’t even due to an injury, which was even more concerning. He was a healthy scratch but should be active in Week 2 thanks to Gainwell’s status. Ultimately, this should be a split backfield with Swift (hopefully) leading the way in touches.
