Kirk Cousins Fantasy Football Outlook (2024)

Many thought Kirk Cousins would return to the Minnesota Vikings. However, the Falcons became the favorites to land the veteran quarterback the closer we got to the start of free agency. The former Michigan State star isn’t one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. Yet, he has always been a solid producer for fantasy football players.

Cousins is a low-end QB1 almost every year of his career as a starting quarterback, dating back to his days in Washington. Last season, he was the QB6 on a points-per-game basis among quarterbacks with at least six starts, averaging 18.7 fantasy points per contest.

Unfortunately, the veteran is coming off a torn Achilles that ended his 2023 season after eight games. While the injury is significant, it should have only a limited impact on Cousins’ abilities as a non-running quarterback. Fantasy players should expect another low-end QB1 season out of him this year.

More importantly, the veteran quarterback’s arrival gives a massive fantasy boast to all the talented weapons in Atlanta. Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Bijan Robinson struggled with Arthur Smith on the sidelines and a merry-go-round of poor quarterbacks.

Thankfully, the three star weapons and newly added Darnell Mooney could all have career years in 2024 with Cousins under center. The former Michigan State star has produced multiple top-12 wide receivers twice in his career, including in 2020 with a rookie Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.
