Mark Andrews 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
Fantasy Football Outlook
Fresh off a TE1 finish in 2021, Mark Andrews appeared primed to usurp the tight end throne from Travis Kelce for good. However, 2022 was a bit of a disappointment relative to expectations. Andrews’ came in behind the likes of George Kittle and TJ Hockenson with a TE4 finish. Now, offensive changes and added target competition bring some new questions for Andrews in 2023. We now need to determine if 2021 was a sign of what Andrews can bring to the table or if it was an outlier season. Let’s get into his fantasy football outlook for the 2023 NFL season.
Fantasy Football Outlook for 2023
For the first time, Andrews may have to fend off some challengers for targets. Odell Beckham Jr. was brought in as well as rookie Zay Flowers whom the Ravens spent a first-round pick on during the 2023 NFL Draft. Additionally, still lurking in the background is former first-round pick Rashod Bateman. Despite injuries, he has proven to be a very solid option when healthy enough to play.
Furthermore, new offensive coordinator Todd Monken is in town. Now, everyone across the organization seems to be signaling that the offense will look much different than the run-heavy, slow-paced approach under former OC Greg Roman.
First day of Ravens camp just wrapped. The tempo was as fast as it’s ever been between plays in the Lamar era. The Todd Monken effect is immediate.

Increased tempo will mean more plays and more opportunities for Andrews despite the added competition. Many in the organization are also signaling a more pass-friendly approach is coming and this would also give Andrews more opportunities. So while it’s true there is added competition, a more pass-friendly, up-tempo approach can help offset these concerns.
Also working in Andrews’ favor, he has always posted strong per-route data and 2022 was no exception. With a Target Per Route Run Rate (TPRR) of 26% and a very solid 25% target share according to Fantasy Points Data, Andrews continued to show why he deserves to be among the first tight ends off the board in all fantasy football drafts.
Overall, while 2022 left us feeling a little “meh”, the underlying data is still very strong. Combine the data with the new offensive changes coming and all signs point to Andrews having a bounce-back 2023 where he can once again challenge for the number one overall spot at the position.
Dynasty Football Outlook
In dynasty fantasy football leagues, Andrews’ outlook is still very promising. Andrews enters his age-28 season in 2023, and he is the only tight end not named Travis Kelce to finish first at the position since 2015. Andrews has been one of the elite target earners at the position for years now and had been held back by a run-first offense. We saw Andrews’ upside in the right circumstances in 2021, and the Ravens have made it pretty clear they plan on opening up the passing game going forward.
This all means Andrews is a good bet to continue being an elite option at the position and a true difference-maker in TE-Premium formats. Under contract through 2025 and now officially tied to Jackson for the foreseeable future, Andrews has a strong case to be made for the overall Dynasty TE1.
