Shedeur Sanders and Brother Shilo to Enter NFL Draft in 2025

Deion Sanders, Head Coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, has confirmed that both of his sons, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and defensive back Shilo Sanders, will not enter the 2024 NFL Draft.

Shedeur, who was previously considered a potential first-round pick, has faced challenges with inadequate protection from the offensive line. However, he has managed an impressive 70.1% pass completion rate, with 2882 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. Despite those struggles, Shedeur’s future plans include pursuing a potential NFL career at the same time as his brother Shilo. These decisions affect the Colorado Buffaloes as they navigate their future.

On the Dan Patrick Show, Coach Prime said, “They’re going to come out [for the NFL Draft] at the same time—next year.”

The 2024 NFL Draft class of quarterbacks appears to be as deep as we’ve seen it over the past few years. With names like Caleb Williams (USC) and Drake Maye (UNC) leading the pact, both Deion and Shedeur have made it clear that he’s not the No.2 to anybody. Once the rumors become official, he’ll likely be the top-ranked quarterback for the 2025 NFL Draft.

2024 Quarterback Rankings

Looking at the current 2024 NFL Draft rankings, many have had Shedeur as high as No.3 in the quarterback rankings. Right now, he sits at No.4 behind Williams, Maye, and JJ McCarthy on our quarterback rankings.

As the decision seemingly is being made by Deion, it may be in Shedeur’s best interest to come back for another year. While he’s shown he has NFL-ready traits, there’s reason to believe he could benefit from another year of film at the FBS level and potentially with a better offensive line. Plus, the NIL money he’s receiving is another factor coming into play for many prospects.
