Waiver Wire Pickups – Fantasy Football Week 14 (2023)

Waiver Wire Pickups - Fantasy Football, Week 14 (2023)

Welcome back to another edition of Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups. We’re heading into Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season. Luckily for us, we are entering the final bye week, along with the majority of leagues wrapping up the final regular game of the season before the playoffs start.

For your fantasy football teams, adding the right players off the waiver wire is crucial to your fantasy football success. Follow along with us all season long so we can help you make your way into the fantasy football playoffs.

With the above in mind, no matter our record, there are always areas to improve. Regardless of your situation, here are players you should look to add for Week 14 based on CBS Fantasy Sports roster percentages. These players are listed in order of priority. Let’s get right into it with the top waiver wire pickups for your fantasy football teams as we head into Week 14!

For this waiver wire column, we are only looking at players rostered in less than 60% of leagues according to CBS as of 12/4/23.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups Week 14

Quarterback Waiver Wire Pickups

Gardner Minshew, QB, Indianapolis Colts (54% Rostered)

You could do worse at quarterback, but Minshew has at the least been serviceable. He threw his first multiple-touchdown game since Week 8 while also passing for over 300 yards for the first time since Week 7. We could see more of this kind of Minshew with Jonathan Taylor out. He’s worth at least 5% of your remaining FAAB.

Jameis Winston, QB, New Orleans Saints (4% Rostered)

For the second time this season, we saw Winston come in for an injured Derek Carr. Despite his inconsistency, there are moments when Winston shows his potential. Additionally, he can be a risky but rewarding addition for at least the next week. Overall, he’s worth up to 5% of your remaining FAAB.

Mitch Trubisky, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers (1% Rostered)

This one is for you who are in 14-plus teams or 2QB leagues. Trubisky is starting Week 14 at the least. He didn’t look bad either in a rainy game Sunday completing 11 of 17 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. Furthermore, he should help boost those who have Diontae Johnson on their roster. Finally, this could be the boost that this offense needs. Trubisky is worth 1-3% of your remaining FAAB.

Running Back Waiver Wire Pickups

Roschon Johnson, RB, Chicago Bears (47% Rostered)

If, and that’s a big IF Johnson is available, he’s my top waiver add this week. Some leagues may have dropped Johnson while the Bears were on bye Week 13. Stop reading this now and go add him! Wait, come back now. All in all, Johnson could and should be the lead back in this offense. To sum it up, he’s worth whatever remaining FAAB you have.

Ty Chandler, RB, Minnesota Vikings (48% Rostered)

Yes, Chandler struggled to get anything going in Week 13 against a stingy Bears defense. However, let’s not forget the two prior weeks before his blunder. Alexander Mattison may have a hold on this backfield as long as he doesn’t fumble. Ultimately Chandler could truly be one fumble away before taking over this backfield. He’s worth all of your remaining FAAB.

Rico Dowdle, RB, Dallas Cowboys (39% Rostered)

Here is where we look to “stash” running backs. Dowdle is the No.2 running back in Dallas. If anything were to happen to Tony Pollard, Dowdle could be an RB2 with upside.

Elijah Mitchell, RB, San Francisco 49ers (49% Rostered)

Next, I like to look for anyone in the San Francisco backfield. As stated above, if anything were to happen to the lead back, the backup would come right in. Each week, Christian McCaffrey might get hurt, but you never know. While quite a few leagues have rostered Mitchell, consider adding Jordan Mason (9%) if he’s available.

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups

Elijah Moore, WR, Cleveland Browns (36% Rostered)

Don’t look now but Moore has emerged as Joe Flacco’s favorite target. Not to mention, Amari Cooper left Sunday’s game with a concussion. More finished the day with four catches for 83 yards. However, he was targeted 12 times. How he didn’t catch 66% of his targets has me wondering. He has seen at least seven targets in his last four games and scored double-digit PPR points in three. Moore is worth up to 5% of your remaining FAAB.

Khalil Shakir, WR, Buffalo Bills (20% Rostered)

There’s a new Gabe Davis in town. Shakir had his first 100-yard game of the season back in Week 11, just to fall back down to earth in Week 12. The Bills offense considers him the clear-cut WR3, but fantasy managers could use him as a WR3/FLEX in deeper leagues. The Bills’ upcoming schedule is intriguing for wide receivers, and Shakir is that upside play. He’s worth 1-3% of your remaining FAAB.

Jalin Hyatt, WR, New York Giants (11% Rostered)

Hyatt exploded onto the scene in Week 12 catching five of six targets for 109 yards. Coming off the bye, his overall roster percentage is still quite low. If he’s able to pick off where he left off from, we could see a late-season breakout. He’s worth 1% of your remaining FAAB.

Curtis Samuel, WR, Washington Commanders (59% Rostered)

Samuel just makes the cut here and I won’t be surprised if it drops due to the Commanders going on bye. If you have an available bench spot, look to add him. He’s been on a surge lately and has seen his role increase over the last two weeks. Once off the bye, the Commanders take on the Rams, Jets, and 49ers. He’s worth 1% of your remaining FAAB.

Tight End Waiver Wire Pickups

Isaiah Likely, TE, Baltimore Ravens (37% Rostered)

Likely is coming off a bye as he didn’t have a huge game in Week 12. But he did see six targets turning that into four catches for 40 yards. The schedule going forward looks pretty good for Likely as he could be a TE1 going forward. He’s worth up to 10% of your remaining FAAB.

Brevin Jordan, TE, Houston Texans (4% Rostered)

For as long as Dalton Shultz (hamstring) is out I liked what I saw Sunday. Not to mention that standout rookie Tank Dell is out for the remainder of the season. This offense has a lot of power and Jordan should look to benefit more from it. He’s worth 1% of your remaining FAAB.

Gerald Everett, TE, Los Angeles Chargers (49% Rostered)

While it was nice to see Quentin Johnston make a splash, Everett too has become reliable. Since being sidelined in Week 11, he’s seen at least four targets. The downside is he has not reached 50 receiving yards all season. He gets Denver in Week 14 and Week 17. He is worth 1% of your remaining FAAB.

Tyler Conklin, TE, New York Jets (36% Rostered)

The Jets are a mess. But seeing Conklin get nine targets has my attention. It doesn’t seem to matter who is at quarterback here as the offensive line is bad and they seem to check down. I’m down for that, especially in PPR. Conklin is worth 1% of your remaining FAAB.
