Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 8 – Deep Dive Fantasy Football

Waiver-Wire-Pickups-for-Week-8-Deep-Dive-Fantasy-Football

Welcome back to another edition of waiver wire pickups for your deeper fantasy football leagues. Week 8 is upon us and we have again seen more injuries to fantasy starters. If you play in deeper league formats or expanded rosters, often most of the main waiver wire picks are taken and claimed by the next morning. The following players are all low-rostered on Sleeper and could help you in the long run. Let’s get into the top waiver wire pickups for Week 8 and beyond.

Rostered percentages are from Sleeper as of 10/24/23.

Pierre Strong, RB, Cleveland Browns (Sleeper Rostered 4%)

Jerome Ford is set to miss the next game or two which lines up Kareem Hunt as the starting running back for the Browns. As a result, Pierre Strong now is set to be the RB2 in Cleveland (barring a signing this week). Strong was acquired by the Browns this offseason from the Patriots meaning the coaching staff likes what they see which could mean some strong playing time while Ford is out. On Sunday in limited time, he rushed 8 times for 25 yards. Don’t break the bank with your FAAB, but he’s worth a stash.

Chris Rodriguez, RB, Washington Commanders (Rostered 2%)

Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson are the main running backs in Washington who typically get all the attention. However, it was Chris Rodriguez who led the backfield Sunday against the Giants in rushing yards. He only ran 7 times for 31 yards and hasn’t seen much consistency with playing time. However, if he were to be pushed up the depth chart, Rodriguez would make for a good deep league flier and one of the better waiver wire pickups for deeper leagues.

Zamir White, RB, Las Vegas Raiders (Rostered 6%)

Josh Jacobs is set as the top running back in Las Vegas. It has not been a great offensive season so far for the Raiders with injuries and inconsistency at Quarterback. Still, Zamir White is someone to at least keep an eye on in deeper formats or in dynasty leagues if he happens to be available. White saw his most playing time this past Sunday. Unfortunately, he only saw two carries and totaled just 2 yards. However, he did catch all three of his targets for 26 yards.

Jake Bobo, WR, Seattle Seahawks (Rostered 2%)

With DK Metcalf inactive Sunday, Jake Bobo saw his most playing time of the season. He caught four of five targets for 61 yards and a great touchdown catch. While he did see extended playing time, his role is expected to take a backseat with Metcalf coming back. However, Bobo is someone to monitor if anyone in the Seattle wide receiver room misses any time.

Alec Pierce, WR, Indianapolis Colts (Rostered 8%)

With rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson done for the season, Gardner Minshew is now the starting quarterback for the Colts. Needless to say, there are certainly a lot of questions regarding the wide receivers in Indy. Outside of Michael Pittman Jr. who has solidified himself as the WR1, Josh Downs seems to be taking the WR2 role. However, Alec Pierce may see an increase in usage.

Last week, he caught all three targets for 53 yards and has seen consistent playing time in this offense. The volume should come with consistent playing time, which makes Pierce a solid addition to your deeper fantasy football teams.

Jauan Jennings, WR, San Fransisco 49ers (Sleeper Rostered 6%)

With Deebo Samuel out for another game or so, Jauan Jennings saw more playing time Monday night against the Vikings. Jennings caught 5 of 9 targets for 54 yards, and figures to see similar volume next week against the Bengals with Samuel possibly out once again. All things considered, he might be one of the better waiver wire pickups for Week 8 in your deep leagues.

Malik Willis, QB, Tennessee Titans (Sleeper Rostered 2%)

If Ryan Tannehill misses this upcoming home game against the Falcons, expect Malik Willis to get the start. Willis looked good in limited action against the Ravens completing four of five passes for 74 yards and rushing three times for 17 yards. Ultimately, he will make for a good QB2 option or someone worth starting in a pinch in your deeper Superflex or 2QB leagues.

Tyler Conklin, TE, New York Jets (Sleeper Rostered 9%)

Finally, Tyler Conklin is emerging as the TE1 of the New York Jets. Zach Wilson has looked decent so far this season and has relied on his tight end room a lot this season. Additionally, Conklin has made some big plays for the Jets and except for Week 1, has seen a minimum of four targets in a game and upwards to six. Coming up, the Jets get the Giants next week and then play the Chargers and Raiders. Overall, Conklin makes for a good streaming option if you don’t have a lot of options at the position.
