Week 1 of the NFL season is finally here after months of waiting. After an entire off-season of drafting, it’s time to set your lineups and watch the action unfold. With that said, let’s dive into my top 12 QB/TE rankings and tiers. Additionally, I’ll give you my must-start at each position for Week 1 of the 2023 fantasy football season. 

Week 1 – Quarterback Rankings

Quarterback – Start Of The Week

Tua Tagovailoa

Tua Tagovailoa has a ton of upside this week going up against the Chargers, and you need to be starting him. I’m high on Tagovailoa for the rest of the season, even though so many people are off him because of his concussions. The bottom line is that Tagovailoa is a talented player who can explode on any given week.

Having Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at his disposal makes Tagovailoa a threat to dominate every week. Tagovailoa has an excellent situation around him, on top of the fact that he’s a great quarterback. Last year, Tagovailoa was averaging 20 PPG through his first nine games before his season was derailed by injuries. 

According to Odds Shark, this game should be the second-highest-scoring game of the week, with an over/under of 49 points. Not only should this game be a shootout, but the Dolphins are 2.5-point underdogs, which means they’ll be put in situations where they have to throw. All things considered, Tagovailoa is a phenomenal player in a great situation, which makes him a must-start this week.

Tight End – Start Of The Week

Tyler Higbee

Tyler Higbee is a massive winner from the recent Cooper Kupp news. Now that Kupp is officially ruled out for Week 1, Higbee should assume the role of the top receiver on the Rams. The Rams have a depleted receiving core, and we saw Higbee finish 2022 with 108 targets.

Historically, the Seahawks have been horrible against the tight end position. In 2022, the Seahawks allowed the second most PPG to tight ends. The Rams are heavy underdogs by 5.5 points, which will force Higbee to run a ton of routes and stay on the field. 

Higbee has shown he can command targets in this offense, and the Rams didn’t make any big moves that could change this. As long as Kupp is out, you should feel great starting Higbee, especially in Week 1.
