Quarterback – Start Of The Week
Josh Dobbs vs. NO
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a quarterback outside the top 12 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Facing off against the New Orleans Saints, Josh Dobbs is my start of the week.
Dobbs just had an unbelievable game in Week 9, yet he’s still being underrated. With Kyler Murray activated from the IR, the Cardinals shipped Dobbs off to the Vikings, who had just lost Kirk Cousins. Without any time to practice, Dobbs was placed as the backup behind Jaren Hall.
Hall went down almost immediately, which forced Dobbs to come in. Despite not knowing anything about this offense, Dobbs scored 24.9 points without practice. Even though Dobbs doesn’t have the same name value as these other top quarterbacks, he’s averaging 16.6 PPG on the year.
Now Dobbs gets to play in a much better situation than the Cardinals. With the Vikings, Dobbs has a solid offensive line, Jordan Addison, T. J. Hockenson, and Alexander Mattison for this week. The Vikings are also facing off against the Saints, who have allowed the 9th most fantasy points to quarterbacks, 17.71 PPG.
On top of this, the Vikings are 2.5-point underdogs, which is a good game script. With the Vikings playing from behind at times, they will be forced to throw the ball. Dobbs also provides solid rushing upside as he has 324 rushing yards and four touchdowns this year. Overall, you should be starting Dobbs as a low-end QB1 on a weekly basis due to his rushing upside and past production.
