Quarterback – Start Of The Week
Justin Herbert vs. BAL
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a quarterback outside the top 12 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Facing off against the Baltimore Ravens, Justin Herbert is my start of the week.
This start of the week was easy for me as I can’t believe Herbert is being ranked outside of the top 12 quarterbacks. Even though things haven’t gone Herbert’s way this year, he’s still averaging 21 PPG. The way some fantasy experts talk about him, you’d think Herbert was one of the biggest draft busts of all time.
In reality, Herbert has been playing extremely well, and he’s coming off 28.4 and 25.7-point performances. Herbert is a gunslinger playing in an offensive that is 8th in passing attempts and 15th in plays per game. Since Herbert doesn’t have much rushing upside, it’s crucial that he gets a ton of passing volume to make up for it.
This week, Herbert should see even more passing volume than usual. Not only are the Chargers 3.5-point underdogs, but this game has the second-highest over/under total, 48 points. The only reason I’m slightly concerned about Herbert is because the Ravens have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks, 11.73 PPG.
That said, Herbert has such a good game script that he should be able to overcome this. Please don’t overthink this and trust the talent.
Week 12 – Tight End Rankings
Not applicable: Sam LaPorta, Tucker Kraft, Logan Thomas, Jake Ferguson, George Kittle, Noah Fant, Durham Smythe, Tyler Conklin
Tier 1
1. Travis Kelce @ LV
2. T.J. Hockenson vs. CHI
Tier 2
3. Dalton Kincaid @ PHI
4. Sam LaPorta vs. GB
5. Trey McBride vs. LAR
Tier 3
7. David Njoku @ DEN
8. Taysom Hill @ ATL
9. Cole Kmet @ MIN
Tier 4
10. Isaiah Likely @ LAC
11. Kyle Pitts vs. NO
12. Cade Otton @ IND
Tight End – Start Of The Week
Isaiah Likely
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a tight end outside the top 12 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Facing off against the Los Angeles Chargers, Isaiah Likely is my start of the week.
The tight end landscape is absolutely gross, with eight of my options already off the board. That said, I’m a little surprised to see the hate Isaiah Likely is getting. Although I’ve never loved Likely, he’s been semi-productive with Mark Andrews out. In 2022, when Likely had five or more targets, he averaged 13.18 PPG.
Now Likely is facing more target competition than ever, but the Ravens scheme is still very tight-end friendly. It also helps that Likely will be playing in a shootout with the second-highest over/under total, 48 points. The Chargers have allowed the second most fantasy points to tight ends with 14.65 PPG.
Going into a matchup that has historically allowed big games to tight ends is huge for Likely. Although Likely isn’t an elite handcuff like he once was, his upside makes him a low-end TE1 in the right situation.
