Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week

Cooper Kupp @ BAL

The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a wide receiver outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the Baltimore RavensCooper Kupp is my start of the week.

It’s crazy how far we’ve come in the NFL season. After being drafted as the WR6 heading into the year, Cooper Kupp is officially ranked outside the top 24 receivers for week 14. To be totally honest with you, this makes zero sense to me. I understand Kupp has been banged up and extremely disappointing this year, averaging 11.3 PPG.

That said, why are we waiting until now to give up on Kupp? Kupp is just coming off a 15.9-point performance, and it seems like he’s turned a corner. Now, I’m not ranking Kupp as a WR1, but based on his performance last week and his profile, he should be a top 24 guy.

In week 13, Kupp caught a touchdown which bumped up his stats, but he also drew eight targets. Any player that can command close to 10 targets a game should be in your WR2 slot, especially someone as talented as Kupp.

With that in mind, I understand it’s not a great matchup, as the Ravens have allowed the 3rd fewest fantasy points to wide receivers (28.83 PPG). That said, the Rams are 7-point underdogs, which will force them to throw the ball much more than usual. I’m not expecting Kupp to put up WR1 numbers anymore, but leaving him out of the top 24 receivers seems foolish.
