Tight End – Start Of The Week

Jake Ferguson vs. NE

The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a tight end outside the top 12 FantasyPros consensus rankings for the week. Going up against the New England PatriotsJake Ferguson is my start of the week.

In a shallow, tight-end landscape, I trust Ferguson as a low-end TE1 going forward. The Cowboys have historically run a very friendly tight-end scheme, making these players extremely fantasy-relevant. Most recently, we’ve seen this from Dalton Schultz, who completely fell off once he left this scheme and signed with the Texans.

Ferguson is a talented player, and the Cowboys are finally starting to get the most out of him. While Ferguson had a rough first week, he bounced back in Weeks 2 and 3 with 10.1 and 9.8 fantasy points. In just three weeks, Ferguson has cemented himself as a crucial part of this Cowboys passing attack, earning seven targets in Week 1 and 3.

According to Odds Shark, the Cowboys are 7.5-point favorites, but their implied team total is 25.5 points. Even if this game won’t be a shootout, the Cowboys are projected to score a ton of points, inherently giving Ferguson touchdown upside.

It’s only Week 4, and the tight end position is already a guessing game outside the top two options. That said, Ferguson looks like a safe bet based on the fact that he’s seeing a high number of targets in a good offense.
