Week 8 DraftKings Bargain Bin Plays and DFS Values

Week-8-DraftKings-Bargain-Bin-Plays-and-DFS-Values

We are on to Week 8 already and it’s hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the season. This week’s bye only has two teams off, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. That gives us 15 games for the week and 11 for the main slate. We lose a lot at the quarterback position with the two bye teams in Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. We also have Lamar Jackson and Tom Brady playing in this week’s Thursday Night Football matchup.

Along with that, Sunday night has Josh Allen going while Monday night has Joe Burrow. We are taking quite the hit this week as Jalen Hurts is the top quarterback followed by Kyler Murray and Dak Prescott. What a fun week we have ahead of us!

My favorite position to pay up for is the running back followed by wide receiver. I would look to build your stacks around these two positions and see what you can get. Can’t figure that out? That’s why you’re here!

Quarterbacks

Geno Smith ($5,800)

I am loving the way that Geno Smith has been playing this season. Sure, in the last couple of games the passing yards haven’t been there but the touchdowns have been. Smith has had multiple touchdowns in four of his last five. He even showed up after losing D.K. Metcalf as Marquise Goodwin stepped right up.

No Metcalf, no problem as there is still Tyler Lockett here and a great running game. Expect another multi-touchdown game and that rushing ceiling to come back into play.

Daniel Jones ($5,700)

Going to the other side of the field here It’s hard to believe that the New York Giants are 6-1. Daniel Jones has been playing better than we all expected. Sure, he’s not slinging it around the field as he’s only passed for over 200 yards twice this season and has thrown for six touchdowns. Those stats are hard to look at, but we’re here for his rushing upside.

Jones has been averaging 8 rush attempts per game for 49 rushing yards. On top of that, he has three rushing touchdowns. In all of his pass plays, if his pass catchers aren’t open, he isn’t afraid to take it on his own. That’s what I like about him this week is the rushing upside against the Seattle Seahawks who rank 29th against the rush.

Jared Goff ($5,500)

Thinking the Week 6 bye would help Jared Goff to prepare against the Dallas Cowboys would help but it didn’t. Goff had his lowest point total on the season with 5.5. The passing game was consistent going 21/26 for 228 yards but no touchdowns. Now it’s time to get back on track for this Lions offense. D’Andre Swift should be back along with Amon-Ra St.Brown to bring this offense back to the number one scoring team again.

Running Backs

Raheem Mostert ($5,900)

The RB1 for the Miami Dolphins is Raheem Mostert and I love getting him here for under $6,000. Over his last four games, he’s been averaging 19 opportunities (rushing and targets) for 90 total yards. The downside he has is he’s only scored two total touchdowns. Mostert should be able to feast against the Detroit Lions who are 30th against the run and have already given up 12 rushing touchdowns on the year.

Brian Robinson ($5,600)

Credit goes to Brian Robinson who was shot multiple times and missed the first four weeks of the season. He was finally able to get his first start in Week 6 and looked okay in his debut. In Week 7 he definitely made an improvement and now has 37 total carries over the last two games. He’s becoming a work-horse back, just needs to be more efficient with his carries (3.2 YPC).

His stats are improving overall and the Indianapolis Colts are a great team to hopefully see him get over 100 total yards and a touchdown.

Tyler Allgeier ($5,400)

It’s hard to imagine a Falcons running back having any fantasy relevance outside of Cordarrelle Patterson, but there is. Rookie Tyler Allgeier has had ten-plus carries since Patterson went down but has gotten over 60 rushing yards once. He’s not the BYU product I was excited to see being drafted in the 5th round because it shows why he fell. He’s been producing and I don’t see it stopping until Patterson comes back.

Wide Receivers

D.J. Moore ($5,300)

So Baker Mayfield may be a bad quarterback and I was wrong about him all along. The D.J. Moore resurrection just needed P.J. Walker. That flows well from PJ to DJ. We’ll fire him up this week! The first game with Walker is a forgettable one, but what we saw in Week 7 is the Moore we like to see!

Atlanta looks to be without A.J Terrell and Jaylinn Hawkins. Look what Joe Burrow and the Bengals were able to do against this banged up defense. Moore is back at it again!

George Pickens ($4,700)

The rookie makes it once again in my bargain plays. George Pickens has been a sneaky play here in DFS as he’s been under $5k. The Philadelphia Eagles defense has been really good as of late, and coming off a bye they should be ready to feast. Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool, and Pat Freiermuth can’t do it all and this defense will try to do what it can to shut it down.

Pickens will probably be left open more than we expect and if I’m going for any Steelers pass catcher this week, it’s Pickens for the upside.

Ben Skowronek ($4,100)

This one is a deep one as Ben Skowronek has surpassed Allen Robinson in fantasy points this year. Serving more as the WR3 in the offense, Skowronek has produced 23 receptions for 221 yards. It may not seem much but he has 13 targets over the last two weeks good for 11 receptions for 81 yards.

We also finally saw that rushing ability that coach Sean McVay was bragging about back in September turning one carry into 17 yards and a touchdown. With Cam Akers seemingly MIA, I see Skowronek playing a little more in the backfield, especially if Van Jefferson is to return.

Tight Ends

Irv Smith Jr. ($3,500)

There’s no easy way to explain this besides that if you have a tight end playing against the Arizona Cardinals, you start them. Last week, the New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson had two touchdowns. The weeks prior to last Noah Fant and Dallas Goedert led their teams in receiving yards. I think you get the point here. It should be a good week for Smith. He’s been quietly breaking out this year and could be a nice value this week on DraftKings.

Logan Thomas ($3,000)

This play is only if Logan Thomas is to come back. The Indianapolis Colts have been getting beat up by tight ends this season. The Colts have given up 32 receptions, 366 yards, and four touchdowns. The yards have been mediocre, but with Taylor Heinicke back under center, I like Thomas more now and hope he’s able to play this week.
