2024 NFL Draft Betting: Top 5 Draft Day Prop Bets

There’s nothing more exciting in April than the 2024 NFL Draft. Okay, yes baseball season has started, but we all know that football is king. The NFL Draft will kick off next week in Detroit, Michigan starting April 25th at 8 PM, EST. Who will hear their names called? Who will emerge as a surprise pick? We don’t know. But until then, we can speculate on the first round along with landing spots for certain players. So why not place some player prop bets?

Here we will discuss my favorite prop bets based on DraftKings Sportsbook as of 4/18/2024. Hurry and place your bets now as they are constantly changing!

2024 NFL Draft – 1st Overall Pick Best Bet

Now, we all assume Caleb Williams will go to the Chicago Bears. But what if we’re wrong? What if they prefer Jayden Daniels instead? Or better yet, let’s assume the Washington Commanders trade up, thinking the Bears want Daniels, just to ensure they acquire their preferred player.

With his elite mobility and arm strength that teams drool over, these two quarterbacks may be closer than we think. Not to mention Daniels’ ability to read the field. Even in Zack Patraw’s latest NFL mock draft, he has the Bears selecting Daniels.

Although Williams is strongly favored as the top pick, sprinkling a little on Daniels or even Drake Maye could be a fun option to explore.

Overall, it’s safe to say that a quarterback will be taken first overall either way.

But if you do believe in someone other than Williams going first overall, check this out!

As of now, Jayden Daniels looks like a lock to be selected by the Washington Commanders with pick 2. However, what if there’s a trade, as mentioned earlier? We can speculate endlessly on these picks, referring to them as locks.

However, the information we have is constantly changing every day, even for teams that are on the clock. It’s similar to knowing the winning numbers for the lottery. We miss more often than we succeed. I enjoy exploring the “what-if” scenario here, and betting on Caleb Williams at +6000 seems like an exciting opportunity you don’t want to miss.

Moving on to picks No.3 and No.4. It appears chalky here as Drake Maye has odds of -110 for being selected third, while Marvin Harrison Jr. is forecasted to be the fifth overall player. However, the next pick grabbed my attention.

2024 NFL Draft – 5th Overall Pick Odds

Here we encounter our first set of picks that all have plus odds. Currently, the Los Angeles Chargers have the fifth pick. Since Justin Herbert is the quarterback, the Chargers do not need to draft a quarterback. However, ex-Michigan head coach and current Chargers head coach Jim Harbough has the opportunity to draft his college QB.

Yet, I don’t see that happening as this pick is considering many options. Now, if the Chargers decide to stay in the spot and not trade out, they have many options. After the team released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen away, the wide receiver core here has dwindled to almost nothing. It would be exciting to see Marvin Harrison Jr. drafted here, but he will most likely be picked fourth overall by the Cardinals.

The Chargers have many needs. DraftKings shows Malik Nabers with the best odds. Although the offensive line in Los Angeles needs help, Joe Alt has the fourth-best odds of being selected here. Additionally, the hype of Brock Bowers going here has dwindled as his odds of going top-5 continue to drop.

In all honesty, I see the draft taking a huge turn here. Many teams, including the Denver Broncos and the Minnesota Vikings, need a quarterback. If you believe someone should select J.J. McCarthy at this trade point, this appears to be the spot to do it.

Which Team Will Blake Corum Be Selected By?

Blake-Corum-NFL-Draft-2024

Next, we present one of my favorite prop bets! Where will Blake Corum go? It’s hard to pinpoint exactly who first said it. But when I appeared on my friends of Dynasty DNA’s podcast at the end of January, I stated that Corum could be a perfect fit back with his old head coach Jim Harbaugh.

However, if you examine all the other teams, you will see something. Just like the Chargers, most of the teams listed have a need for running backs. The Giants just let Saquon Barkley go to the Eagles, while the Cowboys lost Tony Pollard.

Furthermore, Aaron Jones signed a one-year deal with the Vikings. Meanwhile, Zack Moss signed with the Bengals and Derrick Henry signed with the Ravens, both agreeing to two-year deals.

These teams are questioning the running back landscape as they may appear promising this year, but is the future really as bright as it seems? To be honest, Corum could join any of these teams. Having ample running back depth or the opportunity to start is always beneficial. I believe Corum won’t end up with the Cowboys, but whichever running back does will likely perform well in the upcoming season.

Who Will Be The First Running Back Selected?

Almost every podcast you have listened to or every article you have read has criticized this running back class for being low. As a result, teams quickly sought after free agents. When you look at rookie rankings, you can see that running backs are scattered everywhere.

Here, no consensus top running back stands above the rest. This class does not feature a player like Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs who will go in the first round. In fact, we might not even see one go in the second round.

As stated above, with landing spots for Blake Corum, we wonder who the first running back will be chosen. Although I did state that we could see no running backs selected in the first two rounds, there is a possibility that I could be wrong. The Dallas Cowboys currently list Rico Dowdle as their starter. Furthermore, the Cowboys have a late-second-round pick who they could use on a running back, along with some other teams.

Honestly, making this draft pick is one of the hardest bets. Each running back has strengths and weaknesses. Currently, Trey Benson has the best odds, but recent reports indicated that Jonathon Brooks will be cleared for training camp.

One of the biggest risers that I like Jaylen Wright, appears to be a gadget player. However, most of these running backs are undersized based on height or weight. However, do not let that frighten you as the NFL has drafted plenty of wide receivers with size issues who have succeeded.

Overall, based on what I saw from watching college games, I would put my money on Jonathon Brooks. His quickness and athleticism stood out more than any other back before he tore his ACL. He’s a risky pick, but a team that can afford to sit him early in the season could reward him well.

Total Offensive Players In The 1st Round

Looking at this prop may make you ask why. Per Adam Schefter, “There never has been an NFL draft with more than 19 offensive players picked in the first round; that happened three times, most recently in 2009. But this draft is likely to set the record for most offensive players ever picked in round one.”

I want to sprinkle some on the over when I see the O/U at 21.5. Yes, 19 is the highest ever drafted, but who says 22 offensive players drafted in the first round isn’t a possibility? Let’s have some fun with this one and put a little on the OVER.
