2024 NFL Offseason Calendar – Important Dates and Deadlines

The 2023 NFL season is in the books and it’s now time to look ahead to the 2024 NFL season. However, the action doesn’t stop after the Super Bowl in the NFL. There are plenty of exciting off-season activities to look forward to. Notably, the 2024 NFL Draft and the 2024 NFL Combine are two huge events to follow along with. 2024 NFL Offseason – Important Dates and Deadlines

Today, we’re covering the important dates, deadlines, and key events to follow throughout the NFL off-season. Kicking things off, we have the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, which is held in Indianapolis. At the end of April, we head to Detroit Michigan for the 2024 NFL Draft. Additionally, there are plenty of important deadlines to know about and different key events to look out for.

February

February 4th – 2024 Pro Bowl.

February 11th – Super Bowl LVIII, Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas.

February 20th – Franchise and Transition Players can be named.

February 27th – March 4th – NFL Scouting Combine, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.

March

March 5th, 4 PM EST – Franchise and Transition Players deadline.

March 11th through 13th – Teams are now allowed to contact players. Additionally, they may enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become unrestricted free agents upon the expiration of their 2023 player contracts. No unrestricted free agents can sign contracts with new teams until 4 PM.

March 13th – The new league year begins. Also, the free agency signing period begins at 4 PM. Additionally, the trading period for 2024 begins at 4 PM after the expiration of all 2023 contracts.

March 24th through 27th – Annual League Meeting. This is held in Orlando, Florida.

April

April 1st – Teams that hire a new head coach for 2024 may begin off-season workout programs.

April 15th – Teams with returning head coaches may begin off-season workout programs.

April 17th – Deadline for teams to time, test, visit, interview, or conduct a physical examination with a draft-eligible player at the team facility.

April 19th – The deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets.

April 24th – Deadline for prior club to exercise Right of First Refusal to restricted free agents who signed offer sheets. Additionally, this is the deadline for teams to time, test, visit, interview (including video and phone calls) or conduct a physical examination with a draft-eligible player at any location.

April 25th through 27th – 2024 NFL Draft, Detroit Michigan.

May

May 2nd – Deadline for teams to exercise fifth-tear options for players selected back in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

May 10th through 13th – Teams may elect to hold their one three-day post-draft rookie minicamp from Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday on one of the two weekends following the Draft.

May 13th – Rookie Football Development Programs begin.

May 20th through 22nd – Spring League Meeting/Coach Accelerator, Nashville, Tennessee.
