2024 Top Dynasty Rookie Prospects
In dynasty fantasy football leagues, it’s pretty much always the case that next year’s rookie class is better than the current one. That’s pretty much dynasty community law and already applies to the 2024 rookie class compared to the 2023 rookies.
In 2024, the draftees should allow us to appreciate the class longer than most. The 2024 NFL Draft class includes quarterbacks to rebuild around and running backs who can dominate in the passing game. Additionally, there is even a star tight end and a high-end wide receiver. Both of these are two themes familiar in recent dynasty rookie drafts. These are future stars in the NFL with top-end talent on par with or surpassing, 2021’s first round.
Continue reading for some of the top prospects to target in Superflex rookie drafts in 2024.
Tier 1 Prospects
Caleb Williams – Quarterback, USC
The quarterback position is going to become very exciting, very soon. The top two players in this 2024 class are Caleb Williams and Drake Maye. Both of which are high-end quarterback prospects. Overall, the position has youth and talent at the top end at the moment. However, these two can reach the status of QB1 in dynasty fantasy football leagues. This situation isn’t dissimilar to Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields in 2021. Expect Williams and Maye both to secure top-five NFL Draft capital.
Caleb Williams has arm talent that features power first and foremost. Between him and Maye, Williams is more capable and searching out the ability to make explosive rushing plays. Furthermore, he makes big yardage plays with his arms and legs and will be an NFL starter when he’s drafted. A team will be able to create a positive and diverse scheme around Williams. More importantly, having the ball start in William’s hands will lead to him racking up fantasy points for you. Also, he presents a red zone rushing threat with his strength and speed. Spending a first-round pick on Williams will be the cheapest he ever is in your dynasty fantasy football leagues.
Drake Maye – Quarterback, North Carolina
Next up is Drake Maye who won’t need to rush much at the next level, although he certainly has that ability. Maye’s best abilities are making well-timed throws and sensible decisions when passing. Going a bit deeper, he has no fear in the pocket, throws catchable balls, and makes mobile throws while being bigger than Williams. He’s going to receive top capital, this can throw 40 touchdowns in the NFL with the proper structure around him.
These two quarterbacks have elite upside while possessing separate skill sets. Both Maye and Williams are superior players to most quarterbacks in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 classes. All in all, they should be top-12 fantasy football options early on in their careers. These two will be the top options on the board in your Superflex dynasty rookie drafts.
Marvin Harrison Jr. – Wide Receiver, Ohio State
The 1.01 in 1QB leagues for 2024 right now is Marvin Harrison Jr. Furthermore, his upside keeps him in the superstar tier for Superflex leagues. Harrison Jr. has impressive agility for his frame, which should allow him to be hyper-targeted in the NFL short passing game. Furthermore, he’s got the strength to bullrush corners and gain 10 yards all while being tackled. While his peak won’t be clear until he’s facing NFL corners, as he’s way better than his current competition.
Harrison Jr. is an ideal piece for a contender and will be worth acquiring the 1.03 for in Superflex leagues. He will be a top-five draft pick, maybe even higher. The combination of youth and talent could make Justin Jefferson, Jamarr Chase, and Harrison Jr. the top three dynasty wide receivers through the 2020s. When monster talent is also safe talent, you go out and get it.
Tier 2
TreVeyon Henderson – Running Back, Ohio State
In Superflex leagues, those three players would be at the top with Bijan Robinson if they were 2023 eligible. The next tier of players is closer to Jahmyr Gibbs, Bryce Young, and C.J. Stroud from this year. In other words, this tier is still very good and speaks to the high-end ability of the class. The first two running backs were both touted prospects and should be valued in the NFL due to their fits in modern systems.
TreVeyon Henderson is twitchy and a capable pass catcher, meaning he’s a possible lineup cornerstone in PPR leagues. He’s fast and should thrive in space. He has the abilities that should make him the RB1 in 2024 in dynasty leagues and in the NFL. Furthermore, if Henderson is a high draft pick and keeps growing this upcoming year, he could be used like Austin Ekeler at the NFL level and find success. However, Henderson has a little more speed if you’re comparing the two.
Raheim Sanders – Running Back, Arkansas
The 2024 theme at running back is catching the ball. Raheim Sanders is young, big, and runs routes on the outside. He’s going to find himself a role as a playmaker, first and foremost. He has a capable quarterback getting him the ball in KJ Jefferson. However, we saw this past season his 10 touchdowns and 1,443 rushing yards in the SEC. That’s definitely worth noting and giving Sanders credit for.
That was as a true Sophomore, and repeating those numbers while catching more balls will secure Sanders’s spot at the top of the 2024 class. If you want to or need to sell running backs in 2023 and the next offseason, target the middle of next year’s first round. You can rebuild your running backs while adding other assets. Then you can watch the two grow into RB1s themselves.
Brock Bowers – Tight End, Georgia
The star tight end coming from 2024 is Georgia’s own Brock Bowers. He should be a top-four pick in 1QB leagues, along with Harrison Jr. and the two aforementioned running backs. Bowers’ skillset is built to be a number one option on an NFL team. He’s creative and will be able to make plays that no one else on the field can. Furthermore, his hands are more reminiscent of a top receiver, and he’s fast for a tight end. He’s even been used on end-arounds in college. However, he won’t need to do that at the next level to produce.
The dynasty community would fall in love with a young Travis Kelce right now. I’m not saying Bowers is Kelce, but imagine how cool it would be if you could roster a young Kelce. Don’t get too carried away, but Bowers is undoubtedly an extremely talented player with a ton of upside.
Quin Ewers – Quarterback, Texas
Next is Quin Ewers who needs a big year, and should have one, with the talent all over this Texas offense. Ewers should be able to make every NFL throw, but rushing isn’t something to draft this player on. While his physical traits are all high-end as far as size and ability, he needs to show more accuracy and consistency next year. If he can put together those mental traits, he should rise in this NFL Draft process. If he does those things, be confident pairing Ewers with a top quarterback on your team.
Ewers can be a high-end QB2 thanks to his passing floor. Since it’s still so far out from the 2024 draft class, it becomes more difficult to project high upside with each passing player. That said, we are already two tiers in and seven players deep, meaning there is a good deal of high-end talent in the first round. Needless to say, this class is already shaping up to live up to the hype.
Tier 3
Cameron Ward – Quarterback, Washington State
You can’t teach the arm strength and athleticism of quarterback Cameron Ward. He’s my personal QB3 due to his arm talent. Ward is an athletic pass-first player, but not necessarily a rushing quarterback. His arm angles are on par with Caleb Williams, but Ward needs to become a better decision-maker in 2023.
Washington State returns a strong rushing game, hopefully, that will open things up for Ward through the air. Furthermore, he needs to scramble more efficiently, keep his eyes downfield, and hold up health-wise. A Williams versus Ward PAC-12 Championship would be a clash of two top three 2024 quarterbacks, putting a lot of eyes on a future NFL matchup.
Michael Penix – Quarterback, Washington
Another PAC-12 player and the fifth-listed quarterback is Michael Penix. Penix makes good decisions and is the most experienced quarterback to talk about in 2024, outside of Sam Hartman and Devin Leary. He learns systems well, building good connections with his receivers at Indiana and now Washington.
If Penix can quicken those connections at the NFL level, he should be leading an NFL offense in 2025 and beyond. These two players hitting could reinvigorate the quarterback positions floor. Ward and Penix can instill more confidence due to their upside, instead of relying on the last legs of Kirk Cousins or Ryan Tannehill‘s career.
Blake Corum – Running Back, Michigan
The player rounding out the top ten is Blake Corum. Expect his value to be similar to Zach Charbonnet in 2023. He will lead Michigan’s backfield alongside Donovan Edwards, a player who narrowly missed this list himself. While Corum is not a traditional bell-cow running back, his skillset should him the first option in some team’s backfield.
On the other hand, his floor is similar to Tyler Allgeier, but with some sway on his name coming into 2024. Corum would’ve been a top-three running back in the 2023 class, and that should be where he is taken next year. Finally, he could be a solid RB2 for years, but an RB2 is a tough sell at this point in a draft.
Tier 4
Xavier Worthy – Wide Receiver, Texas
Xavier Worthy could be worth a mid-2024 first-round pick when rookie draft season gets here. He may even have better off-the-line moves than Harrison Jr., while not possessing that same level of strength. That being said, the two receivers definitely win in different ways. Worthy is closer to a Hollywood Brown type, being a fast player and a deep threat. Conversely, Worthy has a strong route tree but needs to refine his consistency and confidence in catching the ball out of his breaks.
Young wide receivers are perfect to rebuild dynasty rosters around. Generally speaking, you should build around the wide receiver position rather than running backs. Think DeVonta Smith-level players or the outlook on someone like Jordan Addison this offseason. Not the last piece to a contender, but possible building blocks of the future for your dynasty teams.
Furthermore, Worthy is a talent on that level, but target quality matters at the next level. On top of that, if he’s solely a deep threat and gets three or four chances every game, he’s going to be frustrating to roster. Tread lightly, but keep the upside in mind here.
Braelon Allen – Running Back, Wisconsin
Every draft class starts losing its upside traction eventually, and pick 10 or 11 is that point for 2024. The caution here is to understand the top of this draft class is elite, but not every first-rounder is. One huge upside swing still present is Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen. Allen is a strong player, rushed for over 1,000 yards, and eclipsed 10 touchdowns in both his Freshman and Sophomore years. That was all while he was just 17 and 18 years old.
Allen punches breakout age in the mouth. In two years, he has rushing averages per carry of 6.8 and 5.4. His size and cutting upfield with strength should lead to goal-line touches. For dynasty purposes, he should return mid-RB2 value with the upside to be an RB1. That can happen, but only if he adds quality receiving reps to his game.
Overall, this 2024 NFL Draft class will receive plenty of warranted attention and you should absolutely buy into it. The top players of this class are franchise cornerstones in an NFL offense, as well as for your dynasty fantasy football teams. That being said, you should not move off the top picks next season easily. Even if your team is projected to be upper tier, that first can help you move into the top half of this 2024 draft class and extend your window.
Expect these next two draft classes to revitalize the running back position in the NFL for both depth and starters. That being said, the main goal for 2024 is to leave the draft with high-end quarterbacks or the much-needed upside at wide receiver and tight end positions. The 2024 class is already getting plenty of hype, and rightfully so. This is going to be a fun draft class to watch.
