32 Bold Predictions for the 2022 NFL Season – The East

This will be the first of a four-part series where I will give a bold prediction for fantasy on every NFL team. This series will be broken up into divisions and in the first part, I will discuss the AFC and NFC East divisions.

AFC East

Buffalo Bills: Gabriel Davis

Davis will finish as a Top-18 WR with over 1,000 yards receiving and double-digit touchdowns.

Whether you choose to believe it or not this will be Davis’s SZN. Last season his snap percentage exceeded 60% in just six of eighteen games including the playoffs. That will change this season and he will exceed that percentage every game as long he is healthy.

Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa

Tagovailoa will support two Top-18 WRs while finishing as a Top-15 QB.

His completion percentage, on-target percentage, and touchdown percentage all increased from his rookie season. Last season the Miami Dolphins were 8th in passing attempts. Dolphins didn’t spend a lot in draft picks and money on Tyreek Hill not to use him. Look for him to throw for over 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns.

New York Jets: Breece Hall and Michael Carter

The Jets will have two Top-24 RBs.

While the Jets finished dead last in rushing attempts last year with only 380 they were 13th in YPC. Carter led the team in rushing 639 yards on just 147 attempts. With the addition of Hall and what I believe will be an improved defense, the Jets will run the ball a lot more this year. This will be a top-three running back duo in the NFL.

New England Patriots: Damien Harris

Damien Harris will not finish inside the Top-30 at RB.

I don’t see Harris repeating what he did last year when he finished as RB14 with 15 touchdowns. I see a regression in touchdowns for Harris and more carries for Rhamondre Stevenson who missed five games last year. Also, James White missed 14 games last year. I see Harris finishing closer to RB30 this year.

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys: Ezekiel Elliott

Elliott will not finish as a Top-15 RB.

Elliott’s best days are behind him. He has gone from a luxury Cadillac to a Ford Focus with hand-crank windows. Dallas lost two offensive linemen and Elliott’s yards per game have decreased every year since his rookie season. Tony Pollard is the best running back on Dallas and will have a bigger role this year.

New York Giants: Kadarius Toney

Toney will have 1,000 receiving yards and finish as a Top-24 WR.

There are two main hurdles Toney will have to overcome for this to happen. The first is staying healthy and on the field which he was unable to do during his rookie season. The second is for Daniel Jones aka “Trashcan Dan” to stop fumbling the ball and to get the ball in Toney’s hands. Toney showed some flashes of his playmaking ability when he gets the ball in his hands. If he gets the ball in space he can be very dangerous.

Washington Commanders: Antonio Gibson

Gibson does not finish as a Top-18 RB for the first time since entering the NFL.

Gibson’s ceiling is limited due to the lack of significant work in the passing game. The team chose to keep J.D. McKissic and he will continue to be used frequently in the passing game. Washington also just drafted Brian Robinson in the 3rd Round of the NFL draft and from reports, it sounds like Robinson could be used in the early downs to help keep Gibson fresh and healthy. Robinson could also compete for touches in the red zone. I’m not saying I expect Robinson to take a ton of work from Gibson, but I think he will be a bigger factor than Jaret Patterson was last year.

Philidelphia Eagles: A.J. Brown

Brown will not have 1,000 yards or finish as a Top-24 WR.

A few factors went into this prediction. One factor is that last year the Eagles had even fewer pass attempts than the Titans finishing dead last in pass attempts. Another factor is that Brown will have more competition for targets this year. DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert will command more targets than any of the other pass catchers on the Titans last year. Also, the Eagles running backs are more involved in the passing game than the Titan’s running backs.
