Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) – Week 8 Studs and Values

Daily-Fantasy-Sports-DFS-Week-8-Studs-and-Values

Welcome back to another edition of Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) Studs and Values. In this series, we target some expensive players who are worth paying for. Additionally, we have some value plays as well.

Last week’s picks had some highs and some lows. The Baltimore Ravens beat the brakes off the Detroit Lions and the Ravens stack was a home run. However, the wide receivers and running backs let me down. Let’s hope to build off the highs and have a big Week 8.

Smash

Lamar Jackson was the highest-scoring quarterback this week and put up one of the best games we will see all season scoring 37.88 fantasy points.

Mark Andrews was the third-highest-scoring tight end despite scoring two touchdowns ending the game with 22.30 fantasy points.

Duds

Cooper Kupp only had two catches scoring 6.90 points while his teammate Puka Nacua went off for 26.40 points.

Wan’Dale Robinson despite having eight receptions the week before only had one catch this week scoring only 3.20 points.

Aaron Jones didn’t make the triumphant return I was expecting only scoring a mediocre 8.7 points.

Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) – Week 8 Studs and Values

Quarterbacks

Jalen Hurts ($8,200)

Hurts has tush pushed his way to the top of fantasy leaderboards all season long. He averages the most fantasy points of any quarterback on the Sunday slate. Hurts has scored at least 21 DraftKings points in every game this season outside of Week 1. He has already faced the Washington Commanders once this season and he threw for a season-high 319 passing yards. In six career games against the Commanders, he has thrown for at least 296 yards in half of those games. Hurts will continue to build his MVP campaign and have another stellar game against the Commanders.

Kenny Pickett ($4,900)

Pickett had a solid game last week but not throwing for a touchdown held him back fantasy points-wise. He ended the game by completing nine straight passes and led the Steelers to a comeback win. Additionally, he has a high floor value-wise as he comes in at only 900 dollars above the minimum salary for quarterbacks.

Furthermore, Pickett is facing the Jacksonville Jaguars who are among the worst pass defenses in the NFL. They have allowed the second most passing yards on the season so Pickett is in a great spot to build off his good 2nd half performance last week.

Running Backs

Isiah Pacheco ($6,100)

Pacheco has quietly been one of the most consistent fantasy running backs this season. He has scored double-digit points and no less than 13 points in his last five games. One of the biggest reasons for his consistency has been his involvement in the passing attack. Last season he only had 13 receptions the entire season. In the last two games, Pacheco has seen 10 targets catching them them all for 64 receiving yards. Moreover, two weeks ago against the Broncos, Pacheco scored 15.8 points despite not scoring a touchdown. Look for Pacheco to find the end zone this time around and push for 20 fantasy points.

Devin Singletary ($4,400)

The Texans backfield saw a shift two weeks ago before their bye week. Singletary led the backfield in snaps with 34 and saw 12 carries to Dameon Pierce‘s 21 snaps and 13 carries. Singletary was much more efficient on those carries as well averaging nearly double the yards per carry. At worst this week, Singletary should see a split and at best he could take over as the lead back coming out of the Texans bye week.

No matter the workload for Singletary he gets a great matchup against a poor Carolina Panthers run defense. The Panthers have allowed the most rushing touchdowns this season, as well as second in the NFL in yards per carry against running backs this season. Look for Singletary to have his best game of the season on Sunday.

Wide Receivers

DeVonta Smith ($6,700)

Smith has taken a back seat to AJ Brown the last few weeks. He is due for a big week and he gets a good matchup to do just that. In five games against the Commanders in his career, he has averaged 76 receiving yards per game. In their game against the Commanders a few weeks ago, he had seven catches for 78 yards. Smith is still seeing a 19% target share per route run so, it’s not like he is completely left out of the game plan. The Hurts and Smith stack could be a good pivot with Brown being the higher-owned Eagles receiver.

Diontae Johnson ($5,000)

Johnson made his return from the IR last week after missing four weeks due to a hamstring injury. He was able to put together a solid game and his salary doesn’t reflect his capabilities. Yes, Johnson hasn’t scored a touchdown since 2021 but this could finally be the week he gets one. The Jaguars defense has allowed eight touchdowns to wide receivers this season. Even if Johnson is unable to score with DraftKings being full PPR scoring he can still have a big game without a touchdown.

Tight Ends

George Kittle ($5,400)

Kittle will continue to be one of the 49ers’ top options with Deebo Samuel dealing with a fractured shoulder. This week, Kittle faces the Cincinnati Bengals defense who have had their struggles against tight ends this season. They have allowed four touchdowns to tight ends, which is tied for second-worst in the league this year. Whether the starting quarterback is Sam Darnold or Brock Purdy, Kittle should be a focal point of the 49ers offense.

Trey McBride ($2,800)

McBride gets a tough matchup this week against the Ravens. However, Zach Ertz just got placed on the IR so McBride will be the guy at tight end. Ertz will leave 6.1 targets per game up for grabs. In the end, the second-year tight end out of Colorado will benefit from those vacated targets and get the chance to make an impact on the offense. At McBride’s salary, a few garbage time receptions could be all your lineup needs to put you in the money.

Defense / Special Teams

Atlanta Falcons ($2,900)

The Falcons defense has been much improved this season compared to 2022. They are currently 9th in the NFL in points per game compared to last season where they finished 21st. Their free-agent signings have made a big impact, especially star safety Jessie Bates who already has three interceptions. This week they will face a combination of rookie quarterback Will Levis and second-year guy Malik Willis.

Levis and Willis have both proven to be inaccurate and turnover-prone in both college and their little time in the NFL. The Falcons’ defense should have their way with these inexperienced quarterbacks and the struggling offense as a whole.
