We’re bringing on some of the most notable IDP waiver wire pickups for fantasy football leagues in Week 8. And there could be NFL players who should or could be available at different format levels each week. Allowing us to either start them in Week 8 or stash them on your bench for next time. Or simple enough, if we have the room or the expendables on our benches. We can get ahead and stack our depth deeper if at all possible for the fantasy football season long haul.

Waiver Wire Pickups for IDP Fantasy Football Leagues in Week 8

ILB – Damone Clark – DAL
SAF/ILB – Markquese Bell – DAL
WK8 – Solid -LAR
WK9 – Solid @PHI
WK10 – Solid -NYG

After losing Leighton Vander Esch the week before the Cowboys’ bye week, Dallas went with promoting Damone Clark. Which wasn’t unexpected. However, SAF Markquese Bell was the next man up to get the shot at the ILB snaps left open by Clark moving up the totem pole. Bell saw around 50% of the snaps. Additionally, he had a breakout game against the Chargers in Week 6, making seven tackles and one pass defended. Ultimately, he played alongside Clark, who led the team with eight total tackles and nearly 99% of the snaps.

In the lung run for the season. Bell is more of a sidekick and should average around 60% percent of the snaps on average. Depending on the game script can potentially produce LB2 to LB3-type IDP stats. The former Seahawk was a familiar player from DC Dan Quins’ day with Seattle and reportedly, also a fan of Bell’s. Yet keep in mind that this was one week of Bell. And Damone Clark our main ILB1 target as he’s been a starter in some shape or form the entire season. Leaving Markquese Bell as a deep ILB3 dart throw with upside in Week 8 versus the Chargers.

Week 8 IDP Rolling Waiver Wire Pickups

OLB/DE – Jermaine Johnson – NYJ
OLB/DE – Bryce Huff – NYJ
WK8 – Solid @NYG
WK9 – Solid -LAC
WK10 – Solid -LVR

The Jet’s Jermaine Johnson and Bryce Huff all had fantastic games back in Week 5. Huff had eight total pressures, 1.5 sacks, three tackles, and a tackle for a loss. Johnson had four pressures, two tackles, and two passes defended in Week 6. And granted, it was an upset versus the Eagles that contest, but with the Giants up and then the Chargers are on deck. There’s a lot to like about the Jets Week 8 match-up if we’re looking for a deepeish bye-week play.

The Giants have constantly been one of the league leaders in allowing production upfront. And so much so that they’ve been making middling edge rushers look more like solid weekly plays. So our two younger guns should at the very least meet their last few weeks averages with no problems. And despite Huff having the better games as of late. We’re calling it an even DL2 pick-up with Johnson leading the way in snap counts all year.

SAF – Dean Marlowe – LAC
WK8 – Strong -CHI
WK9 – Solid @NYJ
WK10 – Solid -DET

Alohi Gilman (heel) is set to miss his third straight game due to a lingering issue. Raheem Layne (knee) had been taking over for Gilman, but he was placed on IR recently. This leaves the Chargers leaning on Dean Marlowe again. And it’s in a great offensive matchup against the Chiefs this week. So if you need one, we’ve seen plenty of Marlowe over the years to say he can fill in very nicely when called on. And in this matchup, we’re certain a low DB1 performance isn’t out of the question.

SAF – Sam Franklin – CAR
WK8 – Solid -HOU
WK9 – Strong -IND
WK10 – Strong @CHI

The Panther’s Vonn Bell is reportedly going to be out a couple of weeks more. And we don’t know about Xavier Woods yet and if he is going to be ready to go against the Texans in Week 8. Jeremy Chinn, who clearly has been the odd man out is also out nursing a Quadriceps injury.

So although Sam Franklin started the season as a backup plan, IDP managers can at the very least plan on this week. And another solid outing against a fairly generous Houston at home. Also a positive note. He’s on a defense that the linebacker core in front of him is also hurting and undermanned at the moment. And likely should have been in our Week 7 pickups as a player to watch in case anyone dropped him in a waiver wire move.
