Week 14 — Top 24 RB Fantasy Football Rankings and Tiers

Week 14 is officially here! Using matchup information, sportsbook data, player and statistical analysis, I’ve constructed my top 24 running backs for this week. Along with my top 24 RB fantasy football rankings, I’ll give you my must-start running back for Week 14 of the fantasy football season.

Last week I hit big on my De’Von Achane start of the week so I’m feeling good heading into week 14. Now that Week 14 of the NFL season is almost here, I’m ready to dominate these rankings once again. Let’s get right into the action for Week 14.

Teams on bye week: Washington Commanders and Arizona Cardinals

Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week

Tyjae Spears @ MIA

The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a running back outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the Miami Dolphins, Tyjae Spears is my start of the week.

On the surface, this may seem controversial, but after some extensive research, I feel 100% confident starting Tyjae Spears. You may have noticed in my rankings, but I doubled down on this by putting Spears ahead of Derrick Henry, even though Henry should play this week. The main reason for this ranking is that the Titans are 13.5-point underdogs this week, according to RotoCurve.

To me, having Henry above Spears makes no sense this week. First, Henry is coming off an injury, and the Titans have no incentive to give him a significant workload. The Titans quite literally have a zero percent chance to win this game. Henry is the Titans’ best player, and if he even stubs his toe on Monday, the team will likely take him out and play it safe. We’ve seen this scenario play out before when De’Von Achane was pulled while the Dolphins were destroying the Jets

My second reason is that Spears will out-snap Henry in week 14. Spears has become the passing down back, drawing 46 targets for 33 catches in 2023. Dating back to week six, in every game, the Titans lost, but one (Week 11), Spears played more snaps than Henry. We’ve seen the same trend three out of four times, and I like those odds.

Spears had a great week 13 performance, and Henry was out for only half of the game. Last week, Spears had 12.8 points with 16 carries, 75 rushing yards, six targets and four receptions. That said, the Ravens have allowed the 8th fewest fantasy points to running backs this year (18.27 PPG). The Ravens’ defense is why Spears is ranked as a low-end RB2, but he still has upside because of his pass-catching ability.
