Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week

Jerome Ford vs. TEN

The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a running back outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. After Nick Chubb went down on Monday Night Football, Jerome Ford took over and dominated. Ford was this week’s number one waiver wire pickup, and he’s a must-start against the Tennessee Titans.

It seems like just yesterday, everyone was hyping up Ford, but now that it’s time to make sit/start decisions, Ford is being left outside the top 24 running backs. Ford scored 24.1 points last week, and keep in mind that he wasn’t even the starter for the entire game.

The one caveat I have with Ford is that the Browns just brought back Kareem Hunt. However, he looked extremely bad the last time he played, and I expect him to start slow due to the short notice. Although there’s a chance Ford will see his touches decrease for the rest of the season, he should get almost all the touches in Week 3.

Ford isn’t an elite talent like Chubb, but he looked great running the ball and showed off his explosiveness on a 69-yard run. On top of that, Ford isn’t a great pass catcher, but he provided some value by catching three passes for 25 yards and a touchdown. The Browns like to run the ball, and I don’t see why they’ll stop, considering Ford was very efficient with 6.6 YPC, and Deshaun Watson looked disappointing once again.

The Browns are currently 4.5-point favorites against the Titans, which means they should be able to run the ball for most of the game. This fits right into Ford’s strengths and will allow him to dominate once again.
