Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week
Rachaad White @ NO
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a running back outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. After a rough 7.2-point performance in Week 3, I’m expecting a bounceback for Rachaad White facing off against the New Orleans Saints.
Going up against the Philadelphia Eagles, White was set up for failure from the start. The Buccaneers stood no chance and were trailing the whole game. This forced the Buccaneers to abandon the run game and take shots down the field. On top of this, the Eagles have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL.
White is playing the Saints this week, which should be a much closer game and an easier matchup. The bottom line with White is that in a shallow running back landscape, you should be starting the backs that see volume. Although White hasn’t been consistent, he’s shown flashes with a 21.3 Week 2 performance where he averaged 4.3 YPC.
Currently, the Saints are 3.5-point favorites, but this game should be close. As long as the Buccaneers aren’t outmatched from the jump, they’ll be able to run the ball and target White near the line of scrimmage. White is one of the few backs in the league who is being treated like a bell-cow so for that reason alone, he needs to be a top-24 guy every week.
