Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week

Rachaad White vs. DET

The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a running back outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Although he hasn’t had a great start to the year, my start of the week is Rachaad White against the Detroit Lions.

So far this season, White has looked rather disappointing, only averaging 11.6 PPG. That said, White is seeing an elite-level workload on a week-to-week basis. In every game this year, White has seen 70% or more of the snaps on top of having the red zone role.

White hasn’t been very efficient, averaging 3.3 YPC, but he’s continuing to average 15.75 carries per game. Additionally, the Buccaneers have clearly shown they’re committed to White, and in the long run, this kind of volume almost always wins out. Of course, you need talent, but White has flashed at times and proven he can be a good pass catcher.

This week, White looks to get back on track against the Lions. The Buccaneers are currently 2.5-point underdogs, according to Odds Shark, which means White does not see as many carries. However, this shouldn’t be a big deal, as his strength is in the passing game. The Buccaneers also have an implied team total of 20.5 points, which isn’t great but more than enough to provide fantasy football relevance.

I understand that White hasn’t looked great, but I was shocked to see him outside the top 24 consensus RB rankings. It’s still too early to give up on White, especially with how shallow this running-back landscape is becoming.
