Fantasy Football – Start Of The Week
DJ Moore @ NO
The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a wide receiver outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the New Orleans Saints, DJ Moore is my start of the week.
Tyson Bagent looks like the starter this week, which is by no means great for Moore. That said, Moore is averaging 11 PPG without a touchdown in his three games with Bagent. 11 PPG is a massive fall-off from earlier in the year, but the target volume is still there. With Bagent, Moore is averaging 7.67 targets per game.
You should always bet on the volume, especially if it’s with a talented player like Moore. Moore is due for a touchdown and/or a game with a higher yards per-target mark.
The Bears are also 7.5-point favorites, which is favorable for these pass-catchers. Since the Bears will be getting blown out almost right away, they’ll be forced to throw the ball for most of the game. This is massive since the increased volume can help balance out Bagent’s poor play.
This year, the Saints have also given up the 9th most fantasy points to receivers with 37.1 PPG. I understand that Moore has limited upside with Bagent, but it almost feels disrespectful not to have him in the top 24 after what he’s done this year.
