2024 NFL Mock Draft 5.0 – NFL Combine Edition

2024-NFL-Mock-Draft-5.0-NFL-Combine-Edition

Welcome back to another NFL Mock Draft courtesy of Cannon from Faceoff Sports Network. Today, we’re diving into my 2024 NFL Mock Draft 5.0. Recently, the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine has wrapped up, and we’ve seen some risers and fallers in their 2024 NFL Draft stock. With the NFL Combine fresh in our heads, let’s dive into another 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

2024 NFL Mock Draft 5.0

Since my NFL Mock Draft 4.0, rumors have swirled on who will be trading up for a quarterback. As I type this, the heavy favorites to trade up for a quarterback are rumored to be the Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Giants. Notably, one major rumor that began picking up steam was that Michigan’s JJ McCarthy would be a top 5 pick. In my last mock, I had McCarthy being drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 5 pick.

Recently, there is a ton of buzz on this potentially being the best offensive line class in the last 20 years. The wide receiver class is the best I’ve seen since the 2021 NFL Draft which had the likes of Ja’Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Nico Collins. Additionally, the cornerback class is filled with speedsters! Once the first cornerback comes off the board, I expect 4-5 more to be selected within the next 15 selections.

Be on the lookout for my final two Mock Drafts before the NFL Draft kicks off on April 25th. With that being said, let’s take a deep dive into what I sense might happen come draft night.

1.) Chicago Bears (via CAR): Caleb Williams QB, USC

To no surprise, Caleb Williams is a lock for the No. 1 pick. The Bears are already in the process of trading Justin Fields and I feel that a deal will be agreed upon within the next few days.

2.) Washington Commanders: Jayden Daniels QB, LSU

The Commanders have the opportunity to land their franchise quarterback and I don’t believe they should look to trade down. However, teams will always listen to offers, but when will the Commanders have a top 3 pick again? The 2025 QB class is not the best so LSU’s Jayden Daniels is the selection.

3.) Minnesota Vikings (TRADE via NE): JJ McCarthy QB, MICH

MIN receives: No. 3
NE receives: No. 11, No. 42, 2025 1st, 2025 3rd

The No. 3 pick is up for sale from what I’ve read in the last few months. Patriots’ Head Coach, Jerod Mayo knows this team has a ton of holes. Maybe the Patriots get lucky on a quarterback in the later rounds. The main reason behind the trade-down is, that I believe the Patriots will look to sign Russell Wilson this off-season. As for the Vikings, Kirk Cousins seems to be Atlanta-bound, which is a great fit for Cousins. Minnesota trades a haul to land my No. 2 QB of the 2024 Draft in Michigan’s JJ McCarthy.

4.) Arizona Cardinals: Marvin Harrison Jr. WR, OSU

The Patriots trading down is a huge win for the Arizona Cardinals as they land my No. 1 WR on my board. Kyler Murray has desperately attempted to get a No. 1 WR for years (DeAndre Hopkins and attempting to draft CeeDee Lamb). It finally happens in this draft.

5.) Los Angeles Chargers: Joe Alt OT, ND

Jim Harbaugh LOVES building through the trenches. Joe Alt would’ve been a fantastic trade-down selection. However, Alt absolutely killed the 2024 NFL Combine and was the talk of the weekend from the offensive line group. There was zero chance I could mock the Broncos trading up with the Chargers to draft Drake Maye as division rival trades are rare to see. Therefore, Notre Dame’s Joe Alt is the selection.

6.) New York Giants: Rome Odunze WR, WASH

I’ve been thinking recently, that every single media outlet believes the Giants are trading up for a quarterback. What if that’s what the Giants want everyone to think? Joe Schoen has been good at keeping plans inside the organization. If the Giants do attempt to trade up in the 1st round, I believe Michigan’s JJ McCarthy or North Carolina’s Drake Maye are the top two options. Washington WR, Rome Odunze is my No. 3 ranked WR but his separation skills probably remind the Giants’ decision makers of Stefon Diggs.

7.) Denver Broncos (TRADE via TEN): Drake Maye QB, UNC

DEN receives: No. 7
TEN receives: No. 12, No. 81, 2025 1st, 2025 3rd

Denver’s experiment with Russell Wilson was a total failure. The Broncos have an opportunity to turn things around quickly if they can land a top quarterback in the 1st round. Tennessee is in rebuild mode with a new General Manager and Head Coach. They’ll want to try and fill as many holes as possible this off-season. Sean Payton gets his opportunity by drafting his hand-picked QB in UNC’s Drake Maye.

8.) Atlanta Falcons: Dallas Turner EDGE, ALA

The Falcons are the favorites to land Kirk Cousins. Rumors suggest he’s already looking at houses in the Atlanta area. Atlanta already has weapons for Kirk. Therefore, adding to their biggest need of a pass rusher is the plan here.

9.) Chicago Bears: Malik Nabers WR, LSU

Somehow this always happens in my mocks. The Bears end up getting a top 3 wide receiver in the draft. Adding LSU’s Malik Nabers to an already explosive receiver room would be exciting to see.

10.) New York Jets: Taliese Fuaga OL, ORST

I have a feeling that this is Aaron Rodgers’ decision. The whole world knows he’s going to want the offensive line, so let’s give him the most versatile offensive lineman in the draft in Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga.

11.) New England Patriots (TRADE via MIN): Olu Fashanu OT, PSU

Solidifying the blindside of whomever the quarterback will be is the main priority for the Patriots. If it’s Russell Wilson as I suggested might happen, it’s a great selection for the future.

12.) Tennessee Titans (TRADE via DEN): Amarius Mims OT, UGA

The Titans have something in former Kentucky quarterback, Will Levis. Levis made some impressive strides in his rookie year. Now is the time to build around Levis. Protecting him with an athlete like Georgia’s Amarius Mims is a great way to start off a rebuild.

13.) Las Vegas Raiders: Terrion Arnold CB, ALA

Vegas misses out on a top-tier quarterback but they are lucky to have my No. 1 cornerback still on the board. Arnold has elite coverage skills and will be in the league for a long time.

14.) New Orleans Saints: Byron Murphy ll IDL, TEX

With how deep the offensive line class is, I believe the Saints might look on the other side of the trenches. Dennis Allen would strike gold if he is able to land a prospect with the talent of Byron Murphy ll.

15.) Indianapolis Colts: Brock Bowers TE, UGA

Adding weapons for Anthony Richardson is the key for Indianapolis. Brock Bowers is the best player on the board for me in this situation. The tight end value is dropping due to the recent lack of talent production from first-rounders. Bowers, on the other hand, isn’t just a weapon.

16.) Seattle Seahawks: Troy Fautanu OL, WASH

The Seahawks need a guard and Fautanu is the best one on the board. Not to mention, he has the ability to play tackle if needed.

17.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (TRADE via JAX) Jared Verse EDGE, FSU:

TB receives: No. 17
JAX receives: No. 26, No. 57, 2025 3rd

Verse slides down the board but Tampa Bay decides to trade up and pull the trigger to beef up the defense. Shaq Barrett is a free agent so this gives the Buccaneers an opportunity to start a rookie defensive end right away.

18.) Cincinnati Bengals: Brian Thomas JR. WR, LSU

Another combine warrior from this past week was LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr. If the Bengals decide to move on from Tee Higgins (via tag and trade), then Thomas Jr. is the perfect replacement for Higgins.

19.) Los Angeles Rams: Quinyon Mitchell CB, TOL

Quinyon Mitchell absolutely dominated the senior bowl. A lot of people believed he was going to be an early second-rounder prior to the 2024 Senior Bowl. However, after the combine, he is on his way to being a top 20 selection.

20.) Pittsburgh Steelers: JC Latham OT, ALA

Pittsburgh seems to be running it back with Kenny Pickett. If this is the case, I expect Pittsburgh to make a run for Ryan Tannehill to backup Pickett. Therefore, Pittsburgh is going to have to address the offensive line during the first round of this year‘s draft. Alabama’s JC Latham is the best remaining offensive lineman who could strengthen the protection for Pickett’s blindside.

21.) Miami Dolphins: Nate Wiggins CB, CLEM

With Miami releasing Xavien Howard, a huge hole is opened up for the cornerback position. Miami could address the offensive line or even go on the defensive side of the trenches if they don’t bring Christian Wilkins back. However, after Clemson’s Nate Wiggins remarkable combine this past week, I get the sense that the Dolphins would select him with their first-round pick if he’s available.

22.) Philadelphia Eagles: Jackson Powers-Johnson IOL, ORE

Future 1st ballot Hall of Famer, Jason Kelce announced his retirement this week. That leaves a huge hole at the center position. In this mock, the Eagles draft Kelce’s replacement with Oregon’s Jackson Powers-Johnson which would make him a day 1 starter.

23.) Houston Texans: Xavier Worthy WR, TEX

I knew Xavier Worthy was fast but I didn’t expect him to run a 4.21 at the NFL Combine. This gives CJ Stroud a vertical threat to go alongside Nico Collins.

24.) Kansas City Chiefs (TRADE via DAL): AD Mitchell WR, TEX

KC receives: No. 24
DAL receives: No. 32, No. 64, No. 172

AD Mitchell will most likely be drafted within the first 25 picks. If that is the case, the Chiefs have to take a shot at the 2x National Champion. An organization that wants to continue to win does so by drafting a winner in Texas’ AD Mitchell.

25.) Green Bay Packers: Cooper DeJean CB, IOWA

Green Bay is tough to mock. They are pretty quiet when it comes to trying to figure out who they want in the draft. DeJean is a question mark and he will be until his Pro Day occurs. If he does well, Green Bay gets an impact starter to pair with Jaire Alexander.

26.) Jacksonville Jaguars (TRADE via TB): Graham Barton OL, DUKE

The Jaguars have a hole at guard and Duke’s Graham Barton is the best one remaining on my board. Barton being 6’5 gives the Jaguars options to either play him outside or kick him inside to the guard slot.

27.) Arizona Cardinals (via HOU): Laiatu Latu EDGE, UCLA

Latu was a projected top-10 pick for the majority of this season. The rise of the offensive prospects pushes him down to an organization that is in need of a pass rusher. Latu would start right away for the Cardinals and produce heavily.

28.) Buffalo Bills: Chop Robinson EDGE, PSU

Another NFL Combine warrior was Penn State’s Chop Robinson. He’s raw when it comes to pass rush. The Bills are big when it comes to developing those types of prospects (Gregory Rousseau).

29.) Detroit Lions: Ennis Rakestraw Jr. CB, MIZ

Detroit struck gold with Brian Branch last year. Maybe they can do it again with Missouri cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. Corner is the top need for the Lions and Rakestraw Jr. is my top one remaining on the board.

30.) Baltimore Ravens: Ladd McConkey WR, UGA

Baltimore has great route runners on their team. Drafting Georgia receiver Ladd McConkey adds another impressive route runner for Lamar Jackson.

31.) San Francisco 49ers: Tyler Guyton OT, OU

Trent Williams isn’t getting any younger. The 49ers can’t pass on an offensive tackle like Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton. He’s fluid in his hips and has a strong lower frame.

32.) Dallas Cowboys (TRADE via KC): Zach Frazier IOL, WVU

Dallas selecting an offensive lineman in the first round? Color me shocked; this pick helps Dallas solidify their youth movement on the offensive line. Frazier is the next best thing for the Dallas Cowboys’ trenches.
