Amon-Ra St. Brown 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
When it comes to wide receivers, no wide receiver has surprised me more than Detroit Lions Amon-Ra St. Brown. To this day St. Brown still holds a grudge against the other 31 NFL teams that passed on him in the 2021 NFL Draft. Not only did he get passed by all these other teams, but fell to the Lions in the fourth round. Yet- to this day, he also remembers the 16 wide receivers who went before him.
Now looking to be one of the premier wide receivers in the league, St. Brown is looking to help get the Detroit Lions back into the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Along with this, he is setting up to take the next step into the third year of his career and solidify himself as a WR1.
As you check out our fantasy football rankings, St. Brown is a top-10 wide receiver across the board.
Fantasy Football Outlook 2023
If you had any doubt from St. Brown’s second-half blow-up as a rookie, last year should have wiped that away. Many fantasy managers drafted St. Brown last season as a WR2 for their teams as he went into year two with Jared Goff and company. Even with the drafting of Jameson Williams in the first round, St. Brown had no true receiving threat outside of T.J. Hockenson and D’Andre Swift.
While appearing in 16 games last season finishing the season with 106 receptions, 1161 yards, and six touchdowns. Correspondingly he rewarded fantasy managers with finishing as a top-10 wide receiver in both non-PPR and PPR leagues. If you just thought he was a PPR machine, hopefully, this makes you feel better drafting him.
Only seven players have caught (196) more passes than St. Brown since he was drafted. That’s a lot to say about him as an overall receiver. Although he’s a player that plays close to the line of scrimmage, his reliability in the red zone to score is low. With six touchdowns being his highest over his two-year career, the presence of him wanting to be a deep threat could push him up at the end of the season into the top-5 conversation. Yet, he only has one game in his career with a reception over 40 yards.
While Jameson Williams will miss the first six games of the season, we will look again for St. Brown to have a big start to the season. Given these points per Fantasy Football Calculator average draft position (ADP), you can expect to draft St. Brown as soon as a late-second-round pick.
Dynasty Football Outlook
Many dynasty rankings, including the expert consensus rankings (ECR), have St. Brown not only as a top-10 wide receiver but also a top-12 asset overall. In our dynasty fantasy football startup ADP for both 1QB and Superflex, St. Brown is going as a late-second-round pick. That is a tremendous value for the third-year wide receiver. As the Lions move forward as a team, we could see St. Brown not only pushing himself as a top-5 wide receiver but a top-5 asset to your fantasy team overall.
