DFS Picks - Week 9 Best Picks and Values (2023)

Welcome back to another edition of Daily Fantasy Sports – DFS Picks and Values. In this series, we target some expensive players who are worth paying for. Additionally, we have some value plays as well.

Last week was a huge week for my picks despite a disappointing day from the running backs. Both tight ends crushed it finishing as the TE1 and TE2. Check out last week’s recap below followed by my Week 9 picks. Good luck and let’s win some money together.

Smash

Jalen Hurts threw for four touchdowns and ended the game with 31.36 fantasy points.

Devonta Smith finished one yard short of 100 adding a touchdown and scoring 22.9 points.

George Kittle was the leading tight end going off for 149 receiving yards and ultimately scoring 26.9 points.

Trey McBride was a home run value pick scoring 25.5 points finishing as the TE2 behind only Kittle.

Duds

Isaiah Pacheco was a huge letdown as a sick Patrick Mahomes slowed down the entire offense and Pacheco ended with only 6.7 points.

Devin Singletary didn’t get much going this week ending the game with only 6.3 points.

The Atlanta Falcons defense let Will Levis light them up scoring only three points finishing as the sixth worst defense on the slate.

Quarterbacks

Dak Prescott ($6,500)

Prescott has torched the Philadelphia Eagles in his last three games against the division rival. In those games, he has thrown for 11 touchdowns and 880 passing yards. More importantly, he is coming off by far his best game season, where he threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns. Mike McCarthy finally opened up the offense and Prescott had himself a big day. They need to continue to do that this week in a huge divisional battle that the Dallas Cowboys desperately need to win if they want to win the division. This should be a high-scoring affair and Prescott will put up some big numbers.

Mac Jones ($4,900)

Jones has struggled this season but in the last two weeks despite playing tougher defenses, he threw for two touchdowns in each game. This week the opponent will be much more vulnerable. The Washington Commanders’ defense has been the worst defense against quarterbacks all season long. They have allowed the third most passing yards to quarterbacks and they allow the most passing touchdowns per game. Furthermore, the Commanders just traded their two best edge rushers, Chase Young and Montez Sweat. Jones will have time in the pocket and will be able to carve up this Commanders secondary.

Running Backs

Saquon Barkley ($7,900)

Barkley was the entire New York Giants offense last week rushing for 128 yards on 36 carries. This week, Barkley faces the Las Vegas Raiders defense who just allowed rookie Jahmyr Gibbs to rush for 152 yards and one touchdown. More importantly for the Giants offense, Daniel Jones has returned to practice and will more than likely make his return to the starting lineup. Jones will hopefully help give Barkley more touchdown opportunities compared to Tommy Devito if they were forced to start him. Despite the high price on a bad offense, you can play Barkley with confidence this week.

Jerome Ford ($5,300)

Ford was able to suit up last week despite suffering an ankle injury the week before. Ford being on the field at all was a good sign, even though he was limited to his lowest snap count of the season at only 33%. This week, he gets a tremendous matchup and with Ford’s big play ability, he is a great value play. The Arizona Cardinals have allowed a 100-yard rusher in four of their eight games this season and also allowed two three-touchdown games to running backs. If it sounds like Ford is going to be good to go again this week, he will be a smash play.

Wide Receivers

CeeDee Lamb ($8,200)

Lamb has been one of the best fantasy receivers all season long and is coming off a huge performance where he put up 44 fantasy points. This week, he faces the Eagle’s secondary, which has been a huge problem for them all season long. Not only have they allowed the most fantasy points to wide receivers this season but they have also allowed the most fantasy points to slot receivers as well. Per Player Profiler, Lamb has played the seventh most slot snaps this season with 198. The Prescott and Lamb stack has the potential to break the slate just as they did one week ago.

Demario Douglas ($4,000)

This is another pick where we are just attacking another weak secondary. The Commanders have allowed a league-high 13 touchdowns and 1579 receiving yards to wide receivers this year. They are one of the only secondary’s that match up with numbers as bad as the Eagles. This week Douglas will see an expanded role with Patriots leading receiver Kendrick Bourne hitting the IR this week. More importantly, Douglas has seen 26% of targets per route run and his routes run will only continue to go up. If you wanna pay down for a stack then Jones and Douglas is the way to go.

Tight Ends

Kyle Pitts ($4,100)

Desmond Ridder has finally been benched for Taylor Heinicke. I repeatRidder has finally been benched for Heinicke! Fantasy football players have been ready for this to happen since week one of the football season. This week, the Pitts explosion could finally be upon us. Heinicke may not be the best quarterback but all Pitts needs is someone who can throw him a somewhat catchable ball. The matchup for Pitts is average this week but the quarterback change will be the spark for Pitts to have one of his best games as a pro this weekend.

Cade Otton ($3,000)

In the last two weeks, Otton has gotten more involved in the offense seeing six targets per game. He rarely leaves the field having played at least 90% of the snaps in every game this season. For a young tight end, that’s huge for their fantasy upside. This week, Otton gets a good matchup against the Houston Texans. They have allowed the seventh most receiving yards to tight ends and the ninth most fantasy points this season. Otton should have another solid performance and is a good value this week.

Defense / Special Teams

New York Giants ($2,300)

The Giants defense has actually played very well over their last couple games. They have 10 sacks and three turnovers in just the last two games. A big reason for that has been second-year edge rusher Kayvon Thibedeaux. He has flashed his potential with 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble in the last two games. This week, they take on an awful Las Vegas Raiders offense, who just fired their head coach and offensive coordinator. They will also be turning to rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who has two interceptions on only 52 passing attempts this season. Look for the Giant’s defense to have a big game and be one of the best values on the slate as the cheapest defense.
