While showing great patience, Tyler Badie’s selection of cut-back lanes is not always ideal. Primarily, he worked out of a zone-blocking scheme during his time at Missouri. He is a one-cut running back who shows a great first gear, but not necessarily an elite top gear. Badie showed that he plays with a good pad level and will continue to move the pile after making initial contact with defenders. Badie also doesn’t go down easily, as it usually takes more than one defender to bring him down, or at least he doesn’t go down on the initial contact.

As far as the passing game goes, he had 54 receptions in 2021.  He has solid hands and his ability to work in passing down scenarios could be utilized in the NFL. Badie also lined up outside to some extent, showing some versatility. At the Senior Bowl, he was among the best at single-cut moves in this rookie class. Some scouts believed he was the best back in Mobile for the week of practices.

With 1,604 yards (58% of the team rushing yards) and 14 touchdowns (63% of the team’s rushing touchdowns) in 2021, he flashed onto the scene this year. Prior to this year, he was stuck a bit lower on the depth chart to players like Larry Roundtree. Showing flashes on the field, and at nearly 200 pounds, look for Badie to go somewhere between the 4^th-6^th rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft. He’ll see a bump in value if he lands in the right spot.
