Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 6 (2024)

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 6 (2024)

Last week, we identified five players to pick up that meet our waiver wire criteria. Jaco Young was one of those players in the Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups Week 5 article. Young had 1% roster ownership and is now up to 33%. While he did not have the best week, he was able to pick up two stolen bases. For what it’s worth, you should get him if you need speed and he is still available.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups Week 6

As we move through the season our main goal is to identify players that don’t have a high percentage of ownership, particularly on FantasyPros. We will ensure that no player is rostered more than 40% in leagues to ensure that most of the guys listed are available. Additionally, we will make sure to have at least two players listed that are owned in 20% or less for deeper leagues.

Best Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds For 12 Team Leagues

Stay with us as we identify players to target weekly for your roster to help you win a fantasy baseball championship. I’m not certain if we’ll see someone make a jump that big this week. If someone does, we will do our best to identify them for you. Let’s get right into it with Jon Singleton of the Houston Astros.

Jon Singleton (1B – Houston Astros): 1%

Singleton has been on a tear for the last 7 days. He has 3 HRs, 8 RBI’s, 5 Rs, and an OPS of 1.114. Jose Abreu has been sent down to the minors. Singleton has a real chance to hold on to this job for the rest of the season. He doesn’t even need to be this hot. Abreu was just awful, and with the Astros struggling, I can see Singleton remaining the guy unless he face-plants. This will be the first player on this week’s top waiver wire pickups for fantasy baseball leagues.

Whitt Merrifield (2B/OF – Philadelphia Phillies ): 7%

With Trea Turner heading to the 10-day IL, the reports suggest he will miss around 6 total weeks. Merrifield has struggled in a limited role with the Phillies off the bench. This will allow him to get consistent at-bats which could help him get things going. He plays in a scorching hot lineup that is playing really good ball. He will get opportunities to knock runners in and get knocked in. In the last 7 days, he is batting .600, 1 HR, 2 Rs, 1 SB. Not huge stats but he could be a solid contributor for you while Turner is out. This will be the second player on this week’s top choices off the waiver wire.

Michael Massey ( OF – Kansas City Royals): 2%

Massey started this season on the IL. He was activated from the IL 2 weeks ago. Massey has a very low walk and strikeout rate, so he is making a lot of contact at the plate. In the last 7 days he has 7 RBI’s. 2 HR’s, 4 R’s, and a 0.368 BABIP. I like him as a nice player going forward in deeper leagues. This will be our third player to target for the week.

Reed Garrett (RP – New York Mets): 34%

Garrett is a relief pitcher for the New York Mets. He has appeared in 12 games this past month. In those 12 games, he has picked up 5 wins with a .50 ERA. I normally would not advocate for an RP that isn’t closer, but he has a chance to be Diaz’s setup guy. He also has struck out 30 batters with 12.0 K/9. He is worth adding in leagues with deep starting lineups.

Dean Kremer (SP – Baltimore Orioles): 27%

Kremmer has had a decent season for the Orioles. His K% is 23.13%, the highest since his rookie season 2020. He has thrown out 37 batters in 40.1 innings this season. On top of this, his WHIP is 0.97, the lowest of his career. Playing with a good offense behind him I like targeting him. He’ll be our fifth and final waiver wire addition for this week of the fantasy baseball season.
