Week 2 has been a wild one! The Jets stunned the Browns, the Dolphins shocked the Ravens, and the Cardinals came all the way from behind to beat the Raiders. Garrett Wilson of the Jets stole the show and won the game for the Jets, thus making him my top add of the week. The rookie wide receivers have looked good the first two weeks, and a few of them are becoming must-add players. Let’s get right into it with our top fantasy football waiver wire adds of the week.

Quarterbacks

Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers

With the news of Trey Lance’s injury, and being out for the season, the 49ers will turn back to Garoppolo. He completed 13 of 21 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s win against the Seahawks. In Superflex leagues, Garoppolo becomes a top waiver add for those in need of a quarterback, or even just as depth. Garoppolo led the 49ers to the NFC title game last season with the same receiving options and should operate as a solid QB2.

Carson Wentz, Washington Commanders

Yes, we all know Carson Wentz has the turnover issues and has hopped ship on teams over the past few seasons. However, we cannot deny he has been a fantastic fantasy quarterback for the first two weeks of the season. Wentz completed 30 of 46 passes for 337 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for 23 yards. With Curtis Samuel, Terry McLaurin, and Jahan Dotson catching passes, Wentz has several options to pad his stats in fantasy and is making an argument for a starter in your typical 1QB leagues.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

The Lions have something good going on right now. Goff completed 20 of 34 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday. Goff connected with Amon-Ra St. Brown all day and looked solid. He has D’Andre Swift, St. Brown, and Hockenson, and gets rookie Jameson Williams back soon. Goff is a sneaky add, and could borderline QB1 status if he maintains this performance.

Cooper Rush, Dallas Cowboys

Cooper Rush beat the defending AFC champions on Sunday. In his win against the Bengals, Rush completed 19 of 31 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown. While his starting time isn’t long, as Dak Prescott is expected back in a month or so, Rush is proving solid QB2 numbers in Superflex formats and should be rostered if you need a backup quarterback or need to replace Lance if you miss out of Garoppolo.

Running Backs

Raheem Mostert, Miami Dolphins

If Raheem Mostert is available in your league, he is a must-add. Miami involved Mostert often on Sunday. He rushed 11 times for 51 yards and caught all three of his targets for 28 yards. Mostert comes with the injury history, but Miami’s offense was great on Sunday. Chase Edmonds only had five rushes and one reception. It could be a hot-hand type of situation, but Mostert seems to be the running back on the roster in Miami at this moment.

Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara was out this week, which the Saints hope isn’t a multi-week absence. Mark Ingram took over as the lead back against Tampa Bay. Ingram rushed 10 times for 60 yards and caught both of his targets for three yards. Even if Kamara is back next week, expect the Saints to still use Ingram in the offense as they have done in years past.

Eno Benjamin, Arizona Cardinals

James Conner left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. This injury is something worth monitoring over the week. If Conner does miss a game, Eno Benjamin should be the next man up. On Sunday, he rushed eight times for 31 yards and caught three of four targets for 20 yards.

Jamaal Williams, Detroit Lions

D’Andre Swift did play on Sunday but does play with the injury history risk. Jamaal Williams is a very important backup running back to this team and is involved even when Swift is active. On Sunday he rushed 12 times for 53 yards and caught his only target for seven yards. If Swift were to miss any games, expect Williams to be a top waiver add.

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons

Tyler Allgeier was inactive in Week 1 but got to make his debut on Sunday. Allgeier rushed ten times for 30 yards. He did not see any targets, but neither did Patterson. Patterson and Allgeier each had 10 carries. If Patterson misses any games, Allgeier becomes a starting running back, barring Damien Williams taking that spot.

Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Rachaad White is the primary backup to Leonard Fournette in Tampa Bay. White has seen two targets in both Week 1 and Week 2, and eight total rushing attempts. If Fournette were to miss any games, White would become the top waiver wire add in every league. Fournette has had some concerns about his hamstring and did sit a bit during the matchup against the Saints, even in crucial downs. Stash him now in the event this occurs. He is talented enough to produce very solid numbers if Fournette misses time or is limited moving forward.

Wide Receivers

Garrett Wilson, New York Jets

The Garrett Wilson breakout is here! If Wilson is somehow on your waivers, he needs to be the top add. Wilson showed flashes last week, and this week he won the game for the Jets. Wilson saw 14 targets and caught eight of them for 102 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner. He did see a carry as well, but went nowhere. The 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has looked great and is in the middle of a true breakout. He has established himself outside Elijah Moore as the top option in New York. Use your top waiver on Wilson.

Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders

The rookie wide receivers are looking very good this season so far. Dotson may not be available, as he has been rostered more this past week, but if he’s there he needs to be fully rostered. Jahan Dotson caught four of five passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. Dotson is up to three touchdowns this season and is looking like a solid Flex play from here on out despite having three wide receivers who are all seeing targets in Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel. He’s seen 10 targets in the first two weeks as well.

Nico Collins, Houston Texans

Nico Collins was a popular pick last season in the dynasty community as the rookie was primed for a breakout. He did not have the season everyone thought, and he fell off a bit from the rankings. Fast forward to 2022, and we may finally be seeing it. While the stat line isn’t overly impressive, the target volume was. Collins caught four of nine targets for 58 yards. Collins and Cooks each had four catches in this game. If this trend continues, expect Collins to see enough volume to merit a Flex option in deeper leagues.

Noah Brown, Dallas Cowboys

Noah Brown is quietly becoming a sleeper option at wide receiver. The Cowboys receiver has put up back-to-back double-digit fantasy point weeks in full PPR leagues. On Sunday he caught all five of his targets for 91 yards and a touchdown. The previous week he saw nine targets and caught five of them. Michael Gallup has not returned yet, and until he does, expect Noah Brown to be the WR2 outside CeeDee Lamb, and as of now, he has good chemistry with Rush.

Nelson Agholor, New England Patriots

Nelson Agholor put up a great game on Sunday for the Patriots. He caught all six of his targets for 110 yards and a touchdown. While this may be a fluke, it’s worth the flier on Agholor as he has the speed to provide more breakout performances such as this. While DeVante Parker and Jakobi Myers are the top two options, Agholor could gain more playing time after a week performance such as this.

Tight Ends

Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers

With Keenan Allen out, the Chargers spread the ball around, and Gerald Everett was a big factor on Thursday night. Everett caught six of 10 targets for 71 yards. He’s put up back-to-back double-digit fantasy weeks and is looking like a locked-in fantasy starter, especially for those who drafted Cole Kmet and other tight ends who have put up duds these first two weeks.

Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars

While the yardage output wasn’t high, Engram caught seven of eight targets for 46 yards. For those looking for upgrades at the tight end spot, Engram is someone worth stashing to see if the target volume is maintained each week.

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

Taysom Hill was the popular add at tight end this past week, but for dynasty managers, Juwan Johnson might be working his way into the fantasy picture. Johnson caught four of seven targets for 40 yards. In Week 1 he saw five targets. If Johnson is available in your dynasty league, he’s well worth the stash.

Tyler Conklin, New York Jets

If you’re looking for a starting tight end, Tyler Conklin is a decent starting option. Ignore the drops, but fantasy-wise, Conklin has been decent. On Sunday he caught six of nine targets for 40 yards. Conklin has been the short-yard answer for the Jets, and with CJ Uzomah injured, he’s the sole starting tight end for the Jets now. In a full PPR setting, he has scored back-to-back double-digit weeks.
