Josh Jacobs to the Packers – Fantasy Football Outlook

Josh Jacobs is officially a Green Bay Packer. In one of the more surprising signings of the 2024 NFL offseason, Jacobs reached a four-year, $48 million deal with the Packers within the first few hours of the legal tampering period. Notably, this deal includes $12.5 million in guaranteed money which essentially comes out to a three-year deal. The team can get out of the contract easily after year three with just a $3 million cap hit.

Josh Jacobs Fantasy Football Outlook (2024)

After signing Jacobs the Packers also released the seven-year veteran, Aaron Jones. All things considered, this clears the way for Jacobs to potentially be the bell cow running back in Green Bay. AJ Dillon has returned to the Packers on a four-year qualifying contract.

After spending his whole career with the Raiders, Jacobs finds himself a new home in Green Bay. Jacobs will receive a pretty significant upgrade in coaching and surrounding talent. In 2023 the Packers graded out as the 10th best run-blocking offensive line in football per PFF, landing them an 85.7 run-blocking grade. That is certainly a bump up from the Raiders who graded out as the 27th best run-blocking offensive line in football per PFF, landing them a 73.5 run-blocking grade.

Finally, Jacobs certainly did not have the fantasy finish in 2023 that many fantasy football managers who drafted him had hoped for. In the end, he finished as the RB28 in PPR and RB27 in 1/2 PPR. I expect Jacobs to exceed this finish and bounce back for 2024. It’s too early to say where you should draft him in redraft but his fantasy football outlook is a low-end RB1 once again.
