Running Back – Start Of The Week

D’Onta Foreman vs. CAR

The rule for my start of the week is to go beyond the obvious and pick a running back outside the top 24 FantasyPros consensus rankings. Going up against the Carolina PanthersD’Onta Foreman is my start of the week.

Foreman isn’t the most talented player, but he’s coming off a 20-carry game in week nine. Myself and many others thought Roschon Johnson would take on a bigger role as the season went on, but he only saw two carries last week. With Khalil Herbert out, it looks like the Bears want to make Foreman the feature back in this offense.

Now, Foreman hasn’t been fantastic recently, scoring 4.6 and 8.3 points in the last two weeks. However, he’s been surprisingly efficient. In five games this year, Foreman is averaging 4.4 YPC. More importantly, the issue is his receiving role. Foreman only has 11 targets on the year, so he’ll need to score a touchdown or catch a few passes to have a great week.

Furthermore, the Panthers are an average matchup for running backs, giving up the 18th most fantasy points, 21.27 PPG. However, since the Bears are so bad, this is actually a great matchup for Foreman. Normally, the Bears will be getting blown out, but in this game, Chicago is a 1.5-point favorite. This should allow them to run the ball much deeper into the game.

At this point in the year, it’s so hard to find a breakout running back outside of the top 24. However, Foreman just had 20 carries and has already scored 33 points this year, making him a very strong low-end RB2 this week.
