2023 2QB Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft – Round 2

2023-2QB-Dynasty-Rookie-Mock-Draft-Round-2

The off-season is arguably the most fun time of the year for your dynasty fantasy football leagues. Checking out the upcoming rookies and trying to acquire more future draft picks are what makes dynasty leagues so fun.

We’ll get to see some of these prospects at the Senior Bowl, the NFL Combine, and finally, at the NFL Draft. In 2QB and Superflex leagues, the quarterbacks will be heavily valued, as opposed to your traditional 1QB leagues. This mock will be for 2QB leagues, which are leagues where you’re required to start two quarterbacks. If you missed Part 1, check it out here. Let’s get right into it with Part 2 of this 2023 NFL Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft.

2.01 – WR Jalin Hyatt

2022 Season Stats:

  • REC 67
  • YDS 1267
  • TD 15

Jalin Hyatt is one of my favorite picks at this value, as he has had a fantastic junior season at age 21. Hyatt has elite speed running a 4.31 40 to pair with long arms allowing him to be a threat bigger than his size with an impressive catch radius and solid strength. He’ll be one to keep an eye on at the NFL Combine.

In addition, Hyatt has looked amazing after the catch. He is a fantastic route runner who can create separation when running quick outs and stop patterns. On top of that, he will likely be a mid 2nd Round NFL Draft pick giving him good draft capital. The one knock against Hyatt is that he hasn’t done much before this year and needs to run more pro routes, but Hyatt has some of the best physical tools in the draft.

2.02 – RB Zach Evans

2022 Season Stats:

  • YDS 899 (Rushing)
  • TD 8 (Rushing)
  • REC 8 (Receiving)
  • YDS 93 (Receiving)

While I don’t like the players in this range as much, my RB4 is Zach Evans. While he isn’t a great passing back, he has done solid with his opportunities so far. He’s a big back at 6′ and 215 pounds with good speed. He is a strong interior runner with an excellent initial burst, stop-start ability in traffic, exceptional balance, lateral agility, and body control.

However, Evans hasn’t proven he can be a great pass catcher. All that being said, he has looked like a solid running back and draft prospect for the 2023 class.

2.03 – WR Josh Downs

2022 Season Stats:

  • REC 94
  • YDS 1029
  • TD 11

Going back to the wide receiver position again for pick 2.03. I like Josh Downs, but I don’t think he warrants a selection above some of these other guys. Downs is undersized at 5′ 10 and 175 pounds, but is lightning quick and uses his speed to create separation at all levels. He is great in catch-and-run situations and has a developed route tree.

Additionally, Downs has soft hands with a good catch radius and uses his frame effectively, making him a threat in the red zone. He has some size concerns making it hard for him to run routes in the middle of the field. Additionally, bigger defensive backs tend to dominate him, but he could be an outstanding slot receiver in the NFL.

2.04 – RB Blake Corum

2022 Season Stats:

  • YDS 1,580 (Rushing)
  • TD 18 (Rushing)
  • REC 11 (Receiving)
  • YDS 80 (Receiving)

Blake Corum has been phenomenal this year and has projected 3rd Round draft capital, so a mid-second in this dynasty rookie draft is a good spot for him. Corum is very fast and gets to the second level quickly with the agility to make a man miss in space. He has solid hands and is a reliable receiver.

The knock on Corum is that he’s 5′ 8 and 210 pounds which is extremely undersized for a wide receiver in the NFL. All in all, he has a very high ceiling, but there’s also a good chance his game won’t translate over as effectively at the NFL level due to his size.

2.05 – RB Zach Charbonnet

2022 Season Stats:

  • YDS 1,359 (Rushing)
  • TD 14 (Rushing)
  • REC 37 (Receiving)
  • YDS 321 (Receiving)

Zach Charbonnet is an excellent value for a running back in the second round and is a fantastic prospect. He has a great combination of size, strength, speed, and physicality. Potentially, he will have late draft capital in Round 3 or Round 4, so his landing spot is a significant factor. All in all, he has a lot of positive tools. However, he isn’t great in space and isn’t a good pass catcher, which makes him slide down some draft boards.

2.06 – RB Devon Achane

2022 Season Stats:

  • YDS 1,102 (Rushing)
  • TD 8 (Rushing)
  • REC 36 (Receiving)
  • YDS 196 (Receiving)

Devon Achane is another running back with very high upside but possesses many size concerns. He is another fast and elusive back who is a solid pass catcher. Achane is 5′ 9 and 185 pounds, which is very undersized for an NFL running back. However, on Bruce Feldman’s Freak’s List, he was dubbed the fastest man in college football. Achane is undersized and needs to improve as an all-around back, but he has very good skills and a high upside.

2.07 – RB Tank Bigsby

2022 Season Stats:

  • YDS 970 (Rushing)
  • TD 10 (Rushing)
  • REC 30 (Receiving)
  • YDS 180 (Receiving)

Tank Bigsby is a very solid running back, and a mid-second is excellent value for him. He’s a projected 3rd Round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, so he should have solid draft capital and is a terrific rusher. Bigsby has fantastic balance, agility, and solid speed. Bigsby can catch the ball well but needs to improve his route running to get more opportunities. Overall, he is a good runner but needs to polish up some areas of his game to be a good NFL runner.

2.08 – WR Rashee Rice

2022 Season Stats:

  • REC 96
  • YDS 1355
  • TD 10

Rashee Rice is a good wide receiver prospect and will return excellent value from this spot. Rice has good speed and creates separation well, especially on short routes. He is also a good playmaker with soft hands, a solid catch radius, and a great route runner. However, his route tree is limited and he isn’t a phenomenal deep threat. Overall, Rice could turn into an excellent NFL wide receiver and has solid ability across the board.

2.09 – WR Marvin Mims

2022 Season Stats:

  • REC 52
  • YDS 1006
  • TD 6

Like many of these other wide receivers, Marvin Mims may potentially have low draft capital, but solid potential. Mims also has some size concerns at 5′ 11 and 185 pounds, which is less than ideal for a wide receiver in the NFL. Despite this, Mims is very good at high pointing the ball and catches a lot of contested balls. In addition, Mims is a fantastic playmaker and is a great deep threat. However, Mims doesn’t have elite speed, very good size, or an advanced route tree, which will limit him to a late-round slot receiver.

2.10 – TE Dalton Kincaid

2022 Season Stats:

  • REC 70
  • YDS 890
  • TD 8

Pivoting to the tight end position, I’m going with a guy with a lot of potential but, at the end of the day, is still a tight end. The tight end position itself is such a crapshoot that I only love taking a guy if he’s in the top tier, but the 2.10 is good value for a guy like Kincaid. He can be an excellent pass-catching tight end, as he has looked outstanding as a receiver.

Kincaid has solid size at 6’4 and 240 pounds with soft hands and uses his size well to be a major threat in the red zone. While he doesn’t create great separation, he will be a good value as he will likely have 3rd Round NFL Draft capital.

2.11 – WR Zay Flowers

2022 Season Stats:

  • REC 78
  • YDS 1077
  • TD 12

Going back to the wide receiver position at the end of the second, I’m going to be targeting another undersized receiver, Zay Flowers. At 5′ 10 and 172 pounds, an undersized type of player like him could see success in the NFL in the slot and command a substantial target share. Flowers is an excellent receiver in space, very elusive but is more a short-route runner than a field stretcher.

Flowers is a projected 2nd Round pick right now, so even though he will be a slot-only wide reciever, he has great value here due to that potential draft capital.

2.12 – QB Spencer Rattler

2022 Season Stats:

  • YDS 2,780
  • TD 16
  • INT 11
  • QBR 57.7

My last pick in the second round, I’m going to make a dart throw at a quarterback who could have very high upside in your 2QB dynasty leagues. Spencer Rattler hasn’t been close to living up to expectations but still has that talent pedigree which leads to hope that one day he could be elite. Rattler has the excellent arm strength and is very mobile with good short and medium accuracy.

However, Rattler needs to improve his football IQ, inconsistent mechanics, and reading of opposing defenses. Despite all this, Rattler has the talent to be a good NFL quarterback if he gets the proper coaching and progresses well.
