2024 Dynasty Rookie Profile: Frank Gore Jr., RB

2024-Dynasty-Rookie-Profile-Frank-Gore-Jr.-RB

Frank Gore Jr. was a solid collegiate producer, providing two 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his third and fourth years for Southern Mississippi. We also know he boasts a famous name in fantasy football and NFL circles as former NFL running back, Frank Gore is his father. However, he certainly does bring enough promise of his own to be a possible Day 3 pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. His size may keep him from being a late Day 2 selection, but this will be a late-round dart to consider in rookie third and fourth rounds. Let’s get into his outlook in the NFL and more importantly, on your dynasty fantasy football squads.

Frank Gore Jr. (RB) Southern Mississippi – Dynasty Rookie Profile

Height: 5’8

Weight: 201 lbs

First things first, Gore Jr.’s measurements are a concern for durability. At the 2024 NFL Combine, he came in at 5’8 and 201 pounds. However, the potential of 200+ pounds with his speed is a possible producer in fantasy football and dynasty football. Notably, Gore Jr. had at least 19 catches in each of his last three seasons in college, showing good hands and smoothness in the receiving game. Let’s take a look at what he does well on the field and what he offers in the NFL.

Strengths

Production

The best mark in Gore Jr.’s favor is his college production, never rushing for less than 708 yards in four seasons. In his final season, Gore was responsible for a respectable 13 touchdowns. Additionally, he made plays while being a major threat in the offense, progressing more and more as his career went on.

Power

Gore Jr. has a lot of rushing power for his size, breaking tackles and also being smooth enough to evade defenders. Notably, he runs with a strong low center of gravity, rushing with a lot of purpose going upfield.

Weaknesses

Speed Translating

While Gore Jr. looks strong on tape, the Sun Belt conference defenses didn’t offer much resistance to his strong rushing style. He often broke away free through the line untouched or bounced outside with ease. In the end, his lower draft stock may be due to his competition level, or the worry about how a player with this size and speed will be able to contribute early in his career.

NFL Fit and Capitol

In the end, we should expect Gore Jr. to be drafted sometime on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Likely with the fifth round or later capitol behind him. If he isn’t drafted he’ll be a priority free agent. It’s difficult to project fits for late-round prospects, but Gore Jr. could do well in a depth role somewhere such as the Rams or Cardinals.

Ultimately, he may need a couple of years to build up his body and durability. However, Gore Jr. has all the skills to be at least a change of pace back in the NFL.

Dynasty Outlook

For dynasty fantasy football managers, an upside comparison for Gore Jr. would be new Giants running back Devin Singletary. Gore Jr. has a similar build to Singletary and offers a quick but not fast playstyle as well. Both running backs read the game well from the backfield, and we saw Singletary producing more and more with a growing role for the Texans. This would be a realistic outcome for Gore Jr. if he hits, but he could just as easily find himself not moving up a depth chart and being forgotten about come next year with a strong rookie running back class.

All things considered, Gore Jr. is certainly someone worth targeting later in your dynasty rookie drafts. Don’t expect immediate production or a ton of upside, but he’s absolutely worth drafting and may end up being a solid value.
