Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Gabe Davis has signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The deal is reported to be a three-year, $39 million contract in which he received $11 million at signing.

Gabe Davis Fantasy Football Outlook (2024)

Davis is a downfield threat that never received the volume necessary to be a consistent fantasy football option during his time in Buffalo. Davis finds himself going to a new offense in Jacksonville that should feature him more often. Now Josh Allen did throw the third most passes in the NFL of 20 yards or more. The caveat to this is that Allen ranked 17th in adjusted competition percentage sitting at 40.2% in 2023.

Now, Davis will be paired with a quarterback who was much better in this area during the 2023 season. Trevor Lawrence threw the 6th most passes in the NFL of 20 yards or more. Additionally, he finished 7th in the league for adjusted competition percentage sitting at 50.7%. This makes him one of the best in the league at throwing the deep ball.

In 2023 Davis finished as the WR41 in PPR and WR40 in 1/2 PPR fantasy football leagues. When projecting Davis in fantasy football, it has always been difficult. He has been known to have multiple touchdown games and then disappear for a few weeks. Not to mention, Davis has never truly lived up to the hype he was given in fantasy football after that amazing playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs where he scored 4 touchdowns on just 8 receptions for 201 yards.

Recently, the Jaguars moved on from Calvin Ridley after he signed a deal with the Titans. However, they’ll still have Christian Kirk available, who has found some new life on this Jaguars offense. Keep in mind, the Jaguars could very well draft a wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft as there is plenty of depth at the WR position.

Overall, it’s tough to say Davis will finally produce to the level many had hoped. Though he gets an upgrade at quarterback when it comes to competition percentage on deep balls, he also is heading to a worse offense. Davis’s value certainly won’t and shouldn’t skyrocket in redraft or dynasty football leagues this season, but he is certainly worth a flier in hopes of being a Flex option with upside.
