Week 9 DraftKings Bargain Bin Plays and DFS Values

Week-9-DraftKings-Bargain-Bin-Plays-and-DFS-Values

As we roll into Week 9, many in the fantasy football community will begin their transition into DFS. This week’s slate has six teams on bye along with six teams who are off the Sunday main slate. The teams on their bye week include the Broncos, Cowboys, Steelers, Browns, 49ers, and Giants. We lose some key players here but that’s not it.

Adding to that are the teams off the main slate as the Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens, Saints, Titans, and Texans. They are either on Thursday,  Sunday, or Monday night.

Having many teams and players missing off the slate makes it difficult to build a lineup around. That’s why you’re here. I put in the effort so you don’t have to help build those slates with some good valued pieces

Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers ($5,900)

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. For the second week now, Aaron Rodgers is below our $6k line. Rodgers hasn’t been having the season we hoped for as he lost Davante Adams in a trade to the Raiders. Rodgers has been averaging 14.9 fantasy points this season and gets a Lions defense that ranks near the bottom.

Over his entire career, Rodgers has 27 touchdowns and four interceptions at Detroit. Furthermore, he’s had a multi-touchdown game since 2015. With no more Adams, Rodgers has thrown back-to-back multi-touchdown games but has barely thrown over 200 yards. This rivalry will change that and expect Rodgers to have a big game this week. He’s looking like a nice DFS value for Week 9.

Justin Fields ($5,300)

I’m usually not a fan of Ohio State quarterbacks, but Justin Fields is starting to come along. He’s thrown over 200 yards just once this season, but I like him for his rushing ability. Over his last three games, Fields has been averaging 77 rushing yards and 424 on the year. He is second behind Lamar Jackson (553) in rushing yards this season.

With Darnell Mooney being his star receiver, I expect Fields to pick this secondary apart ranks 27th against the pass, and give up an average of 272 passing yards. We’ll see how the Bears get newly acquired wide receiver Chase Claypool involved over the next few weeks as well. They are banged up and Fields should be able to go north of 200 passing yards, along with 60 plus rushing yards. Who doesn’t like a free touchdown in just rushing yards?

Marcus Mariota ($5,300)

Another Konami code quarterback with who I have a love/hate relationship is Marcus Mariota. He’s no Fields here, but the Los Angeles Chargers are one of the worst (27th) against the run. Atlanta has shown that no matter the score, they will run the ball more than expected. Mariota had a season-high 253 passing yards in a shootout against the Panthers last week, and I’m hoping for that to happen again against the Chargers. At just over $5,000 Mariota is also looking like a value in what could be a high-scoring one.

Running Backs

D’Onta Foreman ($6,000)

I don’t care if Chuba Hubbard even plays this week, I think D’Onta Foreman is the running back you want to pay for. The Carolina Panthers said they would go RBBC here after the Christian McCaffrey trade. They did, but I feel Foreman should and has carved a larger role in this backfield. He has back-to-back games of over 100 rushing yards. I think he can do it again this week against a battered Bengals defense. Hubbard may still not quite be 100% as well making Foreman even more appealing in DFS.

Devin Singletary ($5,700)

Over his last two games, Devin Singletary has had 14 or more opportunities and has turned that into 25 fantasy points. The numbers are good, it’s just that one area he dreads. Touchdowns are what Singletary has a hard time getting as he’s allergic to the end zone. You can say it’s the receiving game as the Bills only have four rushing touchdowns, two of them being Josh Allen and one to Singletary.

A.J. Dillon ($5,700)

It was nice to see A.J. Dillon get double-digit carries this last week against the Buffalo Bills. Going to Detroit, Dillon should have a chance to shine this week against the Lions and their 27th-ranked rush defense. Dillon’s snap percentage has been below 50% over the last two weeks so his ownership should be very low this week. With the Packers moving the ball down the field, I see Dillon getting goal-line work and getting a touchdown or two.

Wide Receivers

Terry McLaurin ($5,900)

Since Taylor Heinicke took over for an injured Carson Wentz, Terry McLaurin has been earning his money. Over Heinicke’s starts this season, McLaurin has been averaging 5.5 receptions, 93 yards, and 0.5 touchdowns. Averaging 18.95 points over this span, I see McLaurin continuing this streak against the Minnesota Vikings.

Allen Robinson II ($5,000)

I’m heavily basing this on Cooper Kupp either missing or being limited this week against the Buccaneers who are dealing with injuries to their secondary. Allen Robinson has finally started to show signs of life in this offense over the last two weeks. Matthew Stafford could be without his safety blanket leading Robinson to see a significant increase in targets. As a cheap WR2 this week, keep an eye on the status of Kupp throughout the week.

Drake London ($4,900)

You may be wondering why I’m listing Drake London as a play this week and I’ll tell you to see Garett Wilson. Since Week 3, London has been averaging 5.44 points in what is a run-first, second, and third offense. You get what I mean. This is the first time that he has dropped below the $5,000 mark, and just like Wilson, could have a big game. Now’s the time to pounce on the cost here and hope for a boom game.

Darnell Mooney ($4,700)

Allowing the eighth most points to the wide receivers, Darnell Mooney is worth the gamble this week against Miami. Especially with the addition of Claypool. The Chicago Bears with the addition of Claypool should benefit Mooney, finally taking a bit of the pressure off of him who has been really their only weapon on this offense as far as pass-catchers go. As stated previously, the Miami Dolphins’ secondary is bad against the wide receiver position. They’re also a little banged up, but give up a lot of yards. Smash Mooney this week in your DFS lineups on DraftKings.

Terrace Marshall ($3,900)

We’ll see if this continues Terrace Marshall had a career-high nine targets in Week 8 turning it into four receptions for 87 yards. With no more Robby Anderson, Marshall is looking to make a case to be the WR2 in this offense. If you go heavy on studs, Marshall is a nice contrarian piece to add as a cheap play.

Tight Ends

Robert Tonyan ($3,800)

To complete the trifecta of the Packers stack, we’re topping it off with no wide receivers, but a tight end. Robert Tonyan has been averaging six receptions for 52 yards over his last three games. Tonyan had a touchdown called back last week due to a penalty, so Dropping below $4,000 benefits us this week in DFS.

Noah Fant ($2,900)

When you play the Arizona Cardinals, you start the tight ends against them. Over Noah Fant’s last two games, he’s taken more of a backseat to the Seahawks receivers, only getting five targets, turning it into three receptions for 26 yards. Previously, against the Cardinals Fant had six receptions (seven targets) for 45 yards. It’s a dart throw, but when you’re up against the 31st-ranked defense against tight ends you take the chance.

DST

Buccaneers ($3,000)

Seeing what the San Francisco 49ers did against the Rams’ offensive line, Matthew Stafford was getting sacked. Also, with Cooper Kupp’s status, this could be a nice bounce-back for the Bucs.

Seahawks ($2,500)

The last time the Seahawks played the Cardinals, they had six sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery. Let’s hope it happens again as the Seahawks now have 22 sacks, five interceptions, and nine fumble recoveries on the season. Here’s your value play at the DST position in DFS this week on DraftKings.
