2QB Dynasty Rookie Draft – Redrafting the 2023 Class

2QB-Dynasty-Rookie-Draft-Redrafting-the-2023-Class

Since Sleeper put 2023 rookies, into the system, I conducted many rookie mocks. From late January to the end of May. We thought we knew who the 1.01 was in 1QB and Superflex. Both drafts started with Bijan Robinson as the 1.01 prior to the NFL Draft.

To no surprise, the first round of the NFL Draft changed it all for us. Yes, Bijan Robinson stayed as the 1.01 as the Atlanta Falcons took him 8th overall. There were many questionable picks as the Detroit Lions took Jahmyr Gibbs 12th overall.

While there was a late-first round run on wide receivers. Yet, we all speculated how the rest of the NFL Draft would go and watched D’Andre Swift get traded to the Eagles. Some players like Jonathan Mingo was a riser. Meanwhile, players like Zach Evans and Puka Nacua dropped.

Here, we are about halfway through the NFL season and I thought now would be a good time to redo a rookie draft with just my ideas behind it. It was something I looked for all over the web and couldn’t find. Well, now you have it here first at Faceoff Sports Network.

I’ll be redoing two rounds of a Superflex. Here is what a dynasty rookie draft looked like back in May, according to our dynasty rookie ADP.

2QB Dynasty Rookie Draft – Round 1

1.01 Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons

1.02 Anthony Richardson, QB, Indianapolis Colts

1.03 Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers

1.04 C.J. Stroud, QB, Houston Texans

1.05 Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions

1.06 Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Seattle Seahawks

1.07 Jordan Addison, WR, Minnesota Vikings

1.08 Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

1.09 Zay Flowers, WR, Baltimore Ravens

1.10 Dalton Kincaid, TE, Buffalo Bills

1.11 Will Levis, QB, Tennessee Titans

1.12 Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks

2QB Dynasty Rookie Draft – Round 1

2.01 De’Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins

2.02 Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans Saints

2.03 Michael Mayer, TE, Las Vegas Raiders

2.04 Jonathan Mingo, WR, Carolina Panthers

2.05 Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts

2.06 Roschon Johnson, RB, Chicago Bears

2.07 Rashee Rice, WR, Kansas City Chiefs

2.08 Marvin Mims, WR, Denver Broncos

2.09 Tyjae Spears, RB, Tennessee

2.10 Jayden Reed, WR, Green Bay Packers

2.11 Sam LaPorta, TE, Detroit Lions

2.12 Hendon Hooker, QB, Detroit Lions

Many were also excited as Jaxon Smith-Njigba was arguably a can’t-miss prospect and was easily the best wide receiver in this class. Additionally, the wide receivers in the first round felt like locks at the time. Dalton Kincaid and his first-round draft capital pushed him in as a must-draft in the first round of rookie drafts.

Now, looking at the above, the scoring system wasn’t tight end premium, it was just Superflex. For this reason, seeing Michael Mayer so high and Sam LaPorta so low justified what we didn’t know.

Mid-Season Point

Once preseason started rankings started to shift. However, over 90% of rookie drafts were completed in May. With this in mind, redraft rankings reflected the changes.

Now, we are about halfway through the season and changes have been made. Since Week 1 I’ve been keeping an eye on all the rookies drafted. Like many, I was higher and lower on certain players. However, here we are today with a new retrospective. Here’s my updated 2023 rookie draft.

Re-Drafting the 2024 Rookie Class for 2QB Dynasty Leagues

1.01 C.J. Stroud, QB, Houston Texans

1.02 Anthony Richardson, QB, Indianapolis Colts

1.03 Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons

1.04 Jordan Addison, WR, Minnesota Vikings

1.05 Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams

1.06 Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions

1.07 De’Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins

1.08 Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers

1.09 Sam LaPorta, TE, Detroit Lions

1.10 Zay Flowers, WR, Baltimore Ravens

1.11 Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Seattle Seahawks

1.12 Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts

C.J. Stroud was the second overall pick and has lived up to expectations. Actually, he’s performed better than expected, hence why he is the top pick here. As expected, Anthony Richardson falling at two is only due to his injury. His upside is second to none, but when you’re not playing, you’re not getting fantasy points.

Seeing Bijan Robinson at three should be of no surprise. Thanks to Arthur Smith. How about Puka Nacua jumping in at five? With Cooper Kupp back, he was still balling. However, with the way he’s performed over the last few weeks and the injury to Matthew Stafford, I’ve been questioning whether this will stick or not.

Now, Jahmyr Gibbs has been balling in the absence of David Montgomery. Although, once Montgomery is back, I see Gibbs getting fewer touches. Meanwhile, Sam LaPorta has just dominated the tight end position. Needless to say, the Detroit Lions team has something special with its two rookies.

Finally, the fall of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Josh Downs. Now, the Smith-Njigba fall is due to the Seahawks offense. However, when DK Metcalf isn’t in the lineup, he shines. Then there’s the PPR machine in Josh Downs. With Gardner Minshew at the helm, Downs has now scored 10-plus PPR points over his last four games. Marvin Harrison may be right in saying Downs is one of the best wide receivers in this class.

Round 2

2.01 Dalton Kincaid, TE, Buffalo Bills

2.02 Will Levis, QB, Tennessee Titans

2.03 Jayden Reed, WR, Green Bay Packers

2.04 Rashee Rice, WR, Kansas City Chiefs

2.05 Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

2.06 Tank Dell, WR, Houston Texans

2.07 Tyjae Spears, RB, Tennessee Titans

2.08 Michael Mayer, TE, Las Vegas Raiders

2.09 Roschon Johnson, RB, Chicago Bears

2.10 Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks

2.11 Marvin Mims, WR, Denver Broncos

2.12 Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals

Dalton Kincaid fell out of the first round but kicked off the second round. Once Dawson Knox went to injured reserve, Kincaid exploded onto the scene with 26 targets over his last three games putting up TE1 weeks. This streak may be here to stay.

Quentin Johnston has fallen from our first-round graces also while he struggles to learn the offense. He’s the biggest faller out of all players here. However, Rashee Rice and Jayden Reed have moved up. They’re not a focal point of their offenses, but I like what Rice can potentially do for the remainder of the season.

Tank Dell is the biggest riser here going at the mid-second. The same can be said for Marvin Mims and Michael Wilson. We hoped for a trade of Courtland Sutton or Jerry Jeudy to help Marvin Mims out, but that didn’t happen. The same can be said for Tajae Spears as Derrick Henry wasn’t traded either. However, Wilson flashed in Week 4 but hasn’t done much since then. Yet, he’s the WR2 on this offense that is getting Kyler Murray back.
